What was the last movie you've seen?

It's just a metric of a film that I've never understood. I've seen a post of someone hating the film Benedetta because the two nuns weren't hot to him. It is the thing about consensus. You talking about someone not being gorgeous right after acting skills implies that both were needed so that came across as super weird. Also sounded like it should be more objective than anything.

Everyone has their own type. Hell I'm sure you'd disagree with the type of girls I tend to fall for :p (I'm getting a face tat today if that gives a hint)

I'll see Barbie next week. I like gerwig's and especially baumbach's work.

However, I've seen people recommend other, similar stuff that is supposedly much better like Life-Size, Toy Story 3 (which apparently features a story involving Ken and Barbie), the Barbie: Life in the Dreamhouse series, and Enchanted. I've already seen Enchanted before and loved it, but I might check out some of this other stuff too.
I haven't seen the Barbie movie, but did enjoy the Life in the Dreamhouse series when my daughter was watching it a few years ago. I think it was originally a web series, so episodes are really short, but they combined them into half-hour episodes for Netflix. A couple of the gags and segments don't make as much sense in this format, but it's a minor thing. The whole thing was consistently pretty funny.

My 14-year-old daughter LOVES that show. She says it is deeply irreverent and funny.

Well, with Lime and PRFSNL's daughter both weighing in positively, maybe I'll have to watch some of them.

I watched some too, at her behest, and I wasn’t quite so enthusiastic…

(It was fine. Just very, very silly.)

I did watch the three Musketeers and that was also way too silly but two scenes were great. Some of it kind of reached so bad it's good territory though.

Meanwhile, I'm surprised the latest Mission Impossible film is doing relatively poorly. Tom Cruise's stunt work is impressive as always. Does the plot make sense? As much as a Mission Impossible plot usually does. Do I want to see Tom Cruise fighting people in a narrow alley, riding a motorcycle off a cliff, or climbing up a train car that is hanging over a ledge? Yes. Always yes. In fact, as other long-running action franchises have turned to "more bigger is bestest" (looking at you, Fast X), Cruise instead spends half the film fighting on a train in what feels like classic Buster Keaton-inspired action. And it worked for me.

I actually think it's probably a tie between the MI films and the Craig Bond films for best chase scenes. Many movies have forgotten what makes a good chase scene. Sometimes even the Bond franchise forgot it (I see you Brosnan).

They’re close, but the chase in the latest M:I film is awesome. So much fun. I’m also glad @Ack also noted how much the film borrows, visually, from some of the silent era’s best stunts (which were exceptionally dangerous and generally insane).

Oppenheimer was just okay. Nolan uses Senate confirmation hearings in the late 50s to talk about a clearance hearing in the early 50s about events that happened in the 30s and 40s. Its at least one framing device too many imo and takes time away from the more interesting aspects of the story.

I wouldn't discourage someone from seeing it, but a better use of your time would be to watch the 80s documentary The Day After Trinity and follow it up with Tom Lehrer's "We Will All Go Together When We Go" in which Lehrer gets across in three minutes what takes Nolan three hours. After that, you'll still have an hour and a half to sit in a chair naked and think about the meaninglessness of it all.
