Why limit the pictures to just snowy days? If you move to NYC you'll be homeless in a park somewhere. Take pictures everyday.REPO Man wrote: I bet if I lived in NYC I'd spend every snowy day off from work just walking through the nearest public park taking IG-worthy pics and drinking hot cocoa.

Re: What Made you Smile/What Ticked you off Today?
Back in 2019 I managed to get the money but the only person who could or would drive me to the Greyhound station in Elizabeth City was my mom. Everyone else was busy, couldn't drive in certain conditions if at all or didn't want to. And her condition was that I had a few potential leads on rooms for rent before I got on tge bus. But what she didn't understand is that places in NYC go quickly. I couldn't just ask someone to hold a room for a few days like she seemed to believe. And even though I inquired about many rooms for rent, most folks either didn't respond or responded to say it got rented out. I think I tried to explain this and that more than likely I'd end up in a place I found after waking up the next morning on the bus before reaching Times Square.
Meanwhile I was being told I might not be able to keep my things at Robyn's house even though I didn't have enough extra cash to get a storage unit. Plus if I did there's no way I could guarantee I'd be able to get my things before the unitv rent was due and I'd run the risk of losing my books, movies, PS4 and so on.
So my uncle decided I wasn't ready, though realistically it wasn't me that wasn't ready. If anything I was the only person who was! If mom would have just drove me and Robyn just let me stash my stuff at her place I'd be in NYC right now. I would have been at least two weeks ahead on my rent by the time the pandemic hit and maybe I'd have enough savings and maybe at least one job still open during the pandemic to keep myself going. I'd probably start a YouTube channel, read and write more and maybe start working out. Seems like that's what folks did during the pandemic if they weren't working as much while avoiding catching COVID-19.
As for what happened to that money... laid off from one job, hours cut at other job, buying Christmas presents and still having to pay rent and bills.

You have to be a satire account. There is no way someone can literally be like 'I have all the money I need to move across the country except I need someone to drive me'.

Re: What Made you Smile/What Ticked you off Today?
It’s a good thing you didn’t make it because you probably would have ended up homeless and your dream version of NYC shattered. At least right now you have a place to stay and your daydream NYC still exists, not yet cruelly killed by the reality
Re: What Made you Smile/What Ticked you off Today?
Yeah, I'm SO grateful for a small go-nowhere town where finding my tribe and my fortune are about as easy as shitting gold, especially when just trying to get my family together is as easy as performing the twelve trails of Hercules.
Re: What Made you Smile/What Ticked you off Today?
This is textbook blaming others for your problems. If Robyn couldn't store your stuff then I guess you just don't keep that stuff. If you couldn't get a ride to the bus you hoof it. Would either of those been ideal? Of course not. But apparently your dream isn't important enough to handle that level of inconvenience.REPO Man wrote:If anything I was the only person who was! As for your mom's condition that you have a place lined up, you're not wrong that having someone hold a place open for you isn't something that happens. But what she correctly identifies is that if you don't have a place lined up where exactly are you going to live? You've gotten off the bus, it's probably late in the day, what are you going to do? You can spend money on a hotel or other temporary lodging, but that eats into your savings, and you have no guarantee that you can find a place that will rent to you before you run out. Especially as someone who just travelled to the city with no job lined up; you're a nightmare of a tenant to a prospective landlord.

Re: What Made you Smile/What Ticked you off Today?
The bus was scheduled to arrive in the morning. And I had enough to pay an extra month's rent on top of the first and last. Unless they needed a security deposit, the it'd just be the first and last along with the security deposit.
Worst case scenario I'd have an extra $600-700 to live off of until I found a job. My only issue would have been the fact that I had a checking account with a bank that doesn't have a branch in New York. Well, that and not having a credit score.

I almost want to continue to engage but this is definitely a troll account. No one can be this staggeringly disconnected from reality.

See, but landlords also want to be paid for all the months in between. And with no job what exactly gives them confidence that you would be able to do so?And I had enough to pay an extra month's rent on top of the first and last. To cover food, housing, transportation, probably some new clothes as you realize you don't have the right look for the jobs you need to start targeting as you discover you need to cast a wider and wider net.Worst case scenario I'd have an extra $600-700 to live off of until I found a job.
Oh, so just the little issues like not being able to access your money (or if you're lucky, just at a hefty fee) and having zero information available about you to give a landlord confidence in your ability to not just be a squatter. My only issue would have been the fact that I had a checking account with a bank that doesn't have a branch in New York. Well, that and not having a credit score.

I'm digging Samurai's comment about how he's lived this whole life while Repo has sat on his ass. I forget sometimes that Samurai was just a kid when he joined the site. It makes me feel good to read all he has accomplished.
