So what have you guys been watching lately?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

I do series jumping to keep things interesting (and manage my ADHD) and no way i am watching 10 years of each series. Gave a shot to Miami Vice (7.5/10 imdb) with one of the supposedly the best episodes "Where the buses do not run" . Maybe it was the Breaking Bad of its days but I really see nothing special here. Am I missing something? Seems people into it more because of the Miami setting.

nope

He's also from a different country, so what has resonance to a few Americans likely won't with him. I don't always agree with his assessment, but it's interesting to see a different perspective.

Cotinuing my series jumping journey, watched my first ever episode of Twlight Zone "Nightmare at 20,000 Feet" , good stuff. Better than most of what is made today. Very impressive for something made so early in TV show history. Its in the 50s and I believe tv's first series were made in the 30s so only 20 years later.

Any recommendation to watch the 80s reboot or the '02 and the recent ones?

Not really. I enjoyed Breaking Bad, Mad Men, Sopranos, and many others. Some popular shows I do not get though. I still feel like there is more to Miami Vice. Maybe I should watch another episode.

Being from different country does not really affect the popularity of the show. Game of Thrones, 90s sitcoms, Star Wars, all the popular stuff is similarly popular world wide even Pulp Fiction (the movie). The culture clash of watching Biritish movies or American TV show is not really any different from an American watching Japanese anime or Bollywood movies (which seems to have a following on these forums).

The stuff that I can tell you that confuses me is some comedy shows. Like Spongebob, it looks like a kiddies show but the episode themes appear to be adult oriented. There are other things I do not get like why is The Dude character from The Big Lebowski is popular or Donnie Darko
A guy talk to an imaginary rabbit, I do not get what makes this so popular of a movie. Here is a quote from the movie which I am not sure if its supposedy to be funny or scary. I do not get it:

Donnie: Why are you wearing that stupid bunny suit?

Frank: Why are you wearing that stupid man suit?
Usually stuff that is supposed to be "thought provoking" , philosophical, leaves things un answered, and unresolved story plots does not fare well with people from my region. Not sure if it settles well with any region except the Europe and North America.

Miami Vice might be a generational thing. I grew up in the 80s so it's a show I remember fondly.

I didn't see the show, but the movie is one of my favs. Fantastic camerawork and editing to the point that I would call it avant garde.

My girlfriend and I finished watching Ted Lasso season 3, which I enjoyed it. Overall, it's light hearted and funny but it also deals with some issues in sports and relationships. Looks like season 3 will be the final season of the show. Was fun while it lasted!

Lately, we've also been watching the X-Files. I used to watch episodes of it here and there, especially because my neighbor and close friend was a big fan of it. But I never sat down to watch through the episodes in order. Not certain we'll finish the whole thing, as that's quite a monumental task, but we're watching episodes whenever we have some free time together in the evenings.

We watched Season 1, Episode 5 - Jersey Devil last night. Hope we can get through a few more episodes tonight!
