What Made you Smile/What Ticked you off Today?
Re: What Made you Smile/What Ticked you off Today?
If there’s anything you are still behind on, catch up BEFORE you buy anything new that isn’t an absolute necessity (hint: the TV is not). And once you are caught up, only buy something new that’s not essential (again, a 4K TV is not essential) if you can do so and ALSO put a little away for emergencies. Make sure if you can make a $13 payment you can also save $13 as well. As you pay off your monthlies you’ll also grow that slush fund.

So, let's be clear on what's going on here. What REPO is really looking for is emotional confirmation that it's fine to go ahead and again splurge on something he wants instead of taking care of his needs. He's going to do this regardless of what we say, because his momentary wants are more important than his needs. We need to accept this and engage with his posts as if this is truth. We cannot make him a more fiscally responsible person, because that's fully up to him. All we can do is either encourage this short-sighted money-wasting or ignore it. Those are really our only two options.

My $500 t shirt purchases are more financially responsible than this.

Yea I bought a pair of glasses, some clothes, and gotta buy some important hair products tomorrow, and that feels better than the tv/ps5/etc. The fact that I can pay for like 20% of it despite the bill not being due until July 25 is evidence of this.SamuraiMegas wrote:My $500 t shirt purchases are more financially responsible than this.

That's because it's not the dollar amount on its own, but rather how it fits in with your overall financial picture.SamuraiMegas wrote:My $500 t shirt purchases are more financially responsible than this.

What if your financial picture looks like the blood-spattered smiley face from Watchmen?MrPopo wrote:That's because it's not the dollar amount on its own, but rather how it fits in with your overall financial picture.

Did you all forget the part where I said I was THINKING ABOUT buying a new TV? And BTW, I found a similar TV on Wal-Mart's site for 100 bucks less. And with my birthday coming up I could probably ask my family if they'd float me a few bucks to help get it. That's something I am THINKING ABOUT DOING and not something I plan on doing on an impulse.
And are those $500 in Tshirts a measure of their overall quality, quantity, rarity or a combination of the three?
