Games Acquired 2023
Re: Games Acquired 2023
How decent are the Outbreak games on Switch? I know they're not worth their full price.

Re: Games Acquired 2023
I've only played the first one so far, but I enjoyed it. Posted a review of it back in October of 2022.REPO Man wrote:How decent are the Outbreak games on Switch? I know they're not worth their full price.

Re: Games Acquired 2023
emwearz 2023 Pickups - Running Total: $93.54 AUD / $62.59USD
Battlefield Bad Company (PS3) - $3AUD / $2.03USD via Thrift Shop
I use to love BFBC2 when it was new on PC, both games have decent single player story modes, so for 3 bucks, considering it is a console exclusive, it was a no brainer.
Medal of Honor & Medal of Honor WarFighter (PS3) - $6AUD / $4.06USD via Thrift Shop
I played both MoH reboots back in the day, they are about as average as modern shooters where at the time, the only reason I picked up the sequel is because it was $3 and I was picking up the first,
the reason I got the first was for the physical copy of the HD versions of Frontline included on the disc.
Mortal Kombat Komplete Edition(PS3) - $3AUD / $2.03USD via Thrift Shop
I played the a bit when it first came out, while it was fun to play with a few of my friends, it was the story mode that really set it apart from other fighters. It was as corny as the MK movie from the
90's but with solid fighting mechanics. I liked that future games adopted this style of single player. It also forced you into playing with a wide range of the cast.

Back 4 Blood (PS4) - $1 via Retail Store
A retail chain where just getting rid of these and my friend got me one, free PS5 upgrade. It is enjoyable enough, it really doesn't hold a candle to L4D and feels more like a free 2 play game than anything, but for $1 it can sit on my shelf.
F-1 World Grand Prix (N64) - $5AUD / $3.50USD Postage via Ebay
This was that one cheap game everyone seemed to have back in the day, pretty much at a point where if I see a cart going for 5 bucks and I don't have it I place dummy bids.

Overall nothing amazing, but just some cheap additions to the collection.

Nice pick-ups, emwearz! Been curious about Back 4 Blood myself, as my partner and I had a lot of fun with the Left 4 Dead games.
Re: Games Acquired 2023
I think if you are a fan (I was of both) there are few things that really separate the two, these things don't necessary make B4B bad, just different.Note wrote:Nice pick-ups, emwearz! Been curious about Back 4 Blood myself, as my partner and I had a lot of fun with the Left 4 Dead games.
The Card System is way more complicated than it needed to be, in its current state it is better, but one longer campaigns not being able to change the cards you have and being locked in is a pain and feels counter intuitive. It also beings in a big lootbox / RNG element to the game.
Upgrading Weapons is a cool idea, but you end up pigeon holed into stick with mostly the same gun until you find something with higher DPS or something that has more room to be upgraded. This game has MMORPG style rarity for weapon upgrades. In L4D, you just change up as you go, bing bang boom.
I feel these two aspects alone dramatically change the pick up and play nature of the L4D titles.
I think it is worth if you have someone to play with that you played through L4D, you might get bored after awhile, but you will still have a laugh arguing over who got the team killed, but the gameplay loop got tired fast for me.

Never heard of F-1 World Grand Prix. Had to stop and check to see if it had been released in the US.
Re: Games Acquired 2023
It was actually a multi-plat with a DC version. There was even a sequel, however that one did not come out stateside.BoneSnapDeez wrote:Never heard of F-1 World Grand Prix. Had to stop and check to see if it had been released in the US.
It is the most 5 / 10 game ever
Re: Games Acquired 2023

...June was really awesome for adding to the collection. I picked up a few things from some local shops before hitting TooManyGames last weekend (plus a couple afterwards too) and for Father's Day my wife surprised me with a Collector's Edition Tears of the Kingdom. TooManyGames was great as always and I was able get some games I've been wanting to grab for a while off of my list. In addition to Zelda, I'm really geeked to finally get my hands on Zillion, Herzog Zwei, and Treasure Land Adventure. I'm also looking forward to checking out Concrete Genie, Cult of the Lamb, and Cathedral.

I added Super Smash Bros. For Wii U for the Nintendo WiiU this afternoon!
Earlier this year, I finally got around to playing the next Super Smash Bros. game which was Super Smash Bros. Brawl for the Wii. I thoroughly enjoyed it and I was looking forward to continue my exploration of the series. Well, recently, I was looking for a Wii U game to buy and Smash Bros. stuck out like a sore thumb. With the game only being like $15, I figured I would jump on it now before it becomes forgotten to time. Thanks to Smash Ultimate coming out on the Switch, the Wii U version has become like a distant memory and I thought now would be a perfect opportunity to try my shot at it.

emwearz 2023 Pickups - Running Total: $113.54 AUD / $75.73USD
I went to an OpShop (what Australians call Thrift stores) a few weeks back and they had a few PS3 titles, some decent games, Red Dead, etc, but I owned them or didn't have enough interest and I don't pick up games to sell on. I was going past the following day and thought, maybe they had more games that had not put out when I went in, low and behold I picked up these games and was very happy!
Ratchet & Clank: Quest for Booty (PS3) - $5AUD / $3.50USD via Thrift Store
I have played through this and own it as a digital title, which is how it was originally released. It was a short and solid little entry with a heavy pirate motif.
Ratchet & Clank: Nexus (PS3) - $5AUD / $3.50USD via Thrift Store
The final game in the PS3 main series is getting quite hard to find at a decent price, so to pick it up for a fiver I was really happy. It is the only main game from the PS3 series I have not finished, so looking forward to getting into it at some point. I have actually been searching for this and trilogy on and off for a few years via eBay, but never seen a decent deal. I was outbid on a disc only version, which I was planning to print my own cover for, for $20 a few months back as the cost is too rich for my blood. So pretty happy I didn't win that auction!
Ratchet & Clank: Trilogy (PS3) - $5AUD / $3.50USD via Thrift Store
I have played through the first 2 on PS2 and enjoyed them, but never got around to the third, looking forward to playing that as well! Another one that has shot up in value recently.
Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One (PS3) - $5AUD / $3.50USD via Thrift Store
Never played this but heard it is "okay" as far as spin offs go, couldn't say no for the price. I know it is multiplayer focused, but will give it a shot solo and see how I fair.
