Except I use welding gloves. I nursed a couple of bats back to health. It's really satisfying to hear them crunch bugs like puppy-chow.

It's crazy how graphic European horror films of the '70s and '80s are considering that European cinema vilified gore. Ironically their views on sex and violence in cinema are a perfect inversion of how sex and violence are depicted in American cinema.

it scares me how much gore, violence, and nudity were in those movies. Had vibe like the more extreme it is the more people will talk about it and go see it. People back then did not have much way to express their opinion so a lot of people got away with a lot of things, today you have to be inline with the status qou or you will be hashtagged on twitter then boycotted

Subreddits are going to be blacking out in protest against the shut down of 3rd party apps tomorrow, I think that we might end up with new users if the situation doesn't improve over there.

they are fleeing to mastodon and Lemmy.,,,,,but I think the situation will be overcome unless someone starts having ideas to build a competing website/service. I do not blame Reddit. Maintaining a free service is not possible, although it was very obvious their price jacking up was to kill 3rd party apps in favour of using the official one...so they can feed on your data and display you ads.

I’m OK with that as long as they follow the rules and aren’t jerks.

Its a stereotype that Reddit users are a bad bunch. When you have an open platform all different kinds of people will state their opinions and people from the whole ideology spectrum will show up but I have dealt with many decent, kind, and helpful people on Reddit.

After all its not popular because of cyber bullying.

So, as I've been watching more movies of late, I've noticed a certain thing that movie buffs keep saying over and over again. "Movies are meant to be seen in a theater". In fact, I even saw a little video from Tom Cruise and the director of the latest Mission Impossible movie thanking people who went to a theater to see the movie and saying that they make these movies "for the big screen".

I find this idea rather interesting, given that movies are only in theaters for a limited amount of time, and that over the years the overwhelming majority of people who will see a movie, will likely see it on a television...or maybe on a computer monitor, a cell phone screen, however it is that people like to watch their movies these days (there certainly are plenty of options now). If movies truly are meant to be seen "on the big screen" i.e. a movie theater, than what is the point of selling movies on DVD or blu-ray? What is the point of Netflix? What is the point of even seeing a movie at all if you missed that small window of time when the movie was in theaters? I probably shouldn't even waste my time watching old movies. Clearly, I am no longer capable of seeing them "the right way".

Are movies really only meant for rich, upper class people who have home theaters or expensive projectors? Because if we take this idea literally, then they are the only ones watching movies, "the right way". If we take this idea literally, then every single new movie should give people FOMO anxiety, because YOU ABSOLUTELY NEED TO SEE THIS MOVIE WHILE IT'S IN THEATERS!!!!!!

For those who don't know, FOMO means fear of missing out, and for some is classified as a type of anxiety.

Am I to believe that a film maker does not want his movies to be timeless things that can be enjoyed for years to come. He only wants them to be enjoyed by a small number of people who go out to see it when it's in theaters? Maybe I should stick to watching anime series. I know the guy who made Cowboy Beboy wanted it to be timeless and enjoyed for years to come.

I think its really meant for the big screen but ported to other forms for convenience. More like "best if watched in theater" than "Must watch in theater" kind of thing. Either way, with tv screens reaccing 80inches+ , thats a theater at home. If you are a movie buff, you can have a pull down screen with a projector and surround sound that should not cost an arm and a leg and give similar theater experience...I think?!
