Just wanted to give a heads up...
I have my auto update set to notify me of updates so that I can view them and see what I'm getting. Today I noticed IE8 was available for download, and even though I use Fire Fox, I decided to grab it and check it out.
Just now, I noticed that when browsing through Windows Explorer (folders) they keep opening up in new windows. So if I clicked on My Computer, C drive, Program Files, AIM, I'd have 4 windows opened! I viewed the option to have folders open in the same or new windows, and it was set to 'same window'. I tried re-selecting it and apply settings, nothing. I tried 'restore defaults' and nothing.
So I Googled it and found other people having the same problem after installing IE8. So, I just did a system restore (since Windows creates restore point before each update) and got everything back to normal.
I'm not sure if IE8 is available for XP, and if it is, I'm not sure if this same problem will occur in XP. I'm using Vista Home Premium with SP1, all up to date save for IE8. I will locate that update, and choose to exclude it.
Not sure if this is a wide problem, or if it only effects certain machines. Maybe Microsoft will release a patch to fix this problem. I haven't used IE in a while, and probably wont now for a long time.
Just wanted to give you guys the heads up. And in case this has happen to you and you're scratching your head wondering why, here's the answer.

Do NOT Use Internet Explorer.
Re: Do NOT Install Internet Explorer 8 Update!
I thought ever since Vista/IE7, explorer and internet explorer became completely separate entities. How is this possible?
Re: Do NOT Install Internet Explorer 8 Update!
I'm not sure why IE8 has these effects on Windows Explorer and I didn't even think, "Why is this happening? Well I just installed IE8, maybe...," I only found out when I Googled the problem.
I could care less though as I don't use Internet Explodamondo. I just figured, "Hey, new version, let me check it out." Funny that THIS is what happens.

Good thing. Because windows sucks.. and never does anything right. I kid.
Even with all of its problems I generally still prefer windows to any other OS I have used. IE however sucks. And has pretty my since well, forever. I used Netscape Navigarot until well after it was dead and Firefox since. Sure I have tried others (Opera and Chrome, el al) but I like Firefox.

I have IE8 and haven't had this problem. I swear i dont know what the hell some of you manage to do to your computers. Vista has pretty much been a breezy experience for me besides the UAC which I turned off.
Older. Not wiser.

Dude... I installed the update and the problem occurred. *I* didn't do anything wrong. I'm not up in here saying "Shitty Vista came on my new puter from Wal Mart n it sux, Micro$oft sux!!1!!!" and splatting crap like that. I like Vista, and among all the problems people complain about, this is the only problem I've had.RyaNtheSlayA wrote:I have IE8 and haven't had this problem.
