What Made you Smile/What Ticked you off Today?
Re: What Made you Smile/What Ticked you off Today?
Honestly, after what chipmunks have done to my house I have no more pity. And if my mouse traps catch some chipmunks, all the better.

It's true. They show up, burrow their way inside, and then sing in their high pitched voices and demand pop star music contracts. Then their leader, who wears a ball cap for some reason, creates mischief. Sometimes they rap too. And they keep calling Maru "Dave" and bring over their weirdly specific girlfriends who are basically just gender-swapped clones in pink and purple clothing...marurun wrote:Honestly, after what chipmunks have done to my house I have no more pity. And they do an animated movie where they get uncomfortably sexualized.
But in all seriousness, why the fuck did they cast Jason Lee as Dave Seville when Hal Sparks LITERALLY looks and sounds like a live-action Dave Seville? He also would have made an excellent Ranger Smith, so naturally they go with Tom Cavanaugh.

Chipmunks are the reason I use a havahart.marurun wrote:Honestly, after what chipmunks have done to my house I have no more pity. And if my mouse traps catch some chipmunks, all the better.
I will say that for this application, don't use the smallest trap they make. I did that and tree squirrels were able to stretch in and steal the bait without being caught. So I had to go up a size.

Re: What Made you Smile/What Ticked you off Today?
random off my chest: I usually don't ever let people's comments about my work get to me in the slightest (especially when they're made by people online) but I'm finally starting to get annoyed with people scoffing at me when I say I'm a professional in the vape industry. I can't really talk about specifics because of my contracts (and also wanting to be private) and yet people think I'm just a shop manager trying to puff themselves up or something. For some reason people refuse to think that b2b and logistics jobs exist. I live right near a Ben E Keith distro hub and people think that's normal to work at but not what I do.
I usually get a lil more specific with my job field in the industry and I still get hit with "yeah, sure..."
With my bonuses and things like reimbursed travel fees I'll be pulling in 60-70k at 23 years old with lots of growth opportunities, especially considering I don't even have my degree yet (though I've been working in the industry for 5 years now). I'm making more than a lot of teachers. I'm making pretty close to what my dad was making in his 40s as a police officer who was a little bit senior. Just cause I live an alternative lifestyle doesn't mean it's impossible for me to do things with myself.

I have a friend in the cannabis industry, and you're 100% doing this incorrectly. Don't say you're in the vaping industry, say what you actually do.SamuraiMegas wrote:random off my chest: I usually don't ever let people's comments about my work get to me in the slightest (especially when they're made by people online) but I'm finally starting to get annoyed with people scoffing at me when I say I'm a professional in the vape industry. Are you in fin tech? Product design? Management? Operations? Business development?
The industry doesn't matter. What matters is what you're actually doing in there. If you're in logistics, say you're in logistics. Skip the vape BS, because no one really cares about that anyway. If you lead with it, everything you say afterward is subservient to that.

The ones over here just love hula hoops and drones. Thankfully, none are rapping, so I think they must be the classically defined species.Ack wrote:It's true. This is good advice. When my employment comes up, I tell people I'm an electrical engineer and work in embedded systems. That tells them what I do and what my interests are.o.pwuaioc wrote: I have a friend in the cannabis industry, and you're 100% doing this incorrectly. If it's appropriate I'll talk about my industry or my specific employer. But if I start there I could be in sales, reception, security, management, accounting, HR, quality, manufacturing, legal, tech writing, IT, etc.

That's a fair point, and I'm in sales/marketing. I had brought it up yesterday in a post on Reddit looking for some vintage shirts that are smoke/vape/drug related to wear at work. One dude got all high and mighty about it like there's no way I could possibly make decent money and it really annoyed me. I guess people put very little consideration into how products get to the shelves. There's wholesales selling to the shops, and manufacturers selling to both shops and wholesale (I work for the a big manufacturer doing that). There's jobs at every one of these levels that pay well if you know what you're doing.

Well, there's your other problem. Reddit is garbage. There's no point in caring what some rando on a website thinks, especially since you know absolutely nothing about them. Maybe it's a 12 year old kid who is barely literate, or maybe it's a troll, or someone else who is just clueless about the world. Reddit is a cesspit that's best ignored.SamuraiMegas wrote:That's a fair point, and I'm in sales/marketing.
