Fan-Made Star Fox Game Announced

Post by racketboy »

Some fairly dedicated Nintendo fans released a little surprise for us last night. Star Fox: Shadows of Lylat is a fan-made title using the FreeSpace_Open engine. It looks like they plan to make this more of a space simulation type of game, something that FreeSpace was known for. Not much is known yet, but the game is set to take place between Star Fox 64 and Star Fox Adventures.

Think Nintendo will be bringing this down?

I don't see why they would. Hell, nintendo may use the ideas in a new game, with the cooperation of the team doing it. This looks sweet. You know what would be interesting as hell though? If they made an Earth expansion pack which includes the planet data of our solar system so you could fly through the asteroid belt, or in the earths atmosphere, or in the Oort Cloud. Maybe you could go back in time by flying around the sun, ala star trek!

WC Saga was released last week too (it uses Freespace_Open also) - I have to say Saga is possibly my favourite mod ever, very professional and feels 'right' (if you like the WC series)
