She also told me what we're doing for Thanksgiving. It's going to be me, my mom, her brother, my brother, his wife and possibly my oldest niece at my uncle's fiancée's house while she's out of town. Now I just gotta figure out what I'm gonna take. I'm thinking a Dream Pie, chocolate with a graham cracker crust, like my aunt used to make every Thanksgiving. Of course I need to buy a new mixing bowl and new beaters for my hand mixer. Since everyone but me is a football fan, I figure taking a movie and showing it is a crapshot. Definitely going to stick with my Switch.

I've been doing a little soldering lately, which has introduced me to a new type of tape I haven't really be familiar with before. It's called kapton tape, and it's been pretty handy for keeping wires out of the way.
Mostly I buy paper based tapes these days, like artist's tape type stuff with brown paper. I figure it's more environmentally friendly than the your typical sellotape.

Guys, for real: what's the best brown packing tape?

Fair question. You looking for simply sealing the boxes for transit or reinforcing them?opa wrote:Guys, for real: what's the best brown packing tape?

Sealing. I reinforce with clear packing tape.

Why use brown packing tape at all over clear tape? All of the brown packing tapes I've encountered were like low tack clear packing tape (which is sometimes good when you're trying to open a package).
Not sure what you're looking to accomplish, just saying in general... Clear packing tape doesn't always stick to a box as well as it sticks to itself. So for a heavy box, I always make sure to go tape to tape for the top and bottom seams.

Anyone heard of people using Elmer's glue to make DIY sea glass-like paint? As detailed here, you just add food coloring to basic Elmer's glue and then use it to paint glass objects and the end results resembles beach glass. If you don't know what beach glass is, here's the Wikipedia page.
I'm asking because I was wondering if it'd be possible to use the technique with glow-in-the-dark Elmer's glue. I'm thinking of painting homemade Christmas ornaments. I bought a bunch of stuff to do that last year but never got around to it.

I don't completely agree, if you're going for the reinforced brown packing tape with string to provide greater reinforcement. But in general, yeah, clear packing tape is what I have tended to prefer.Ziggy587 wrote:Why use brown packing tape at all over clear tape? OK, so I was gonna say... Brown paper packing tape that is reinforced is awesome. The stuff that has to be wet to activate the adhesion is great, it's basically glue rather than sticky tape. I was referring more to the brown packaging tape that the consumer typically buys. It's more like clear packing tape, only brown, and it usually doesn't have very good adhesion.Ack wrote:I don't completely agree, if you're going for the reinforced brown packing tape with string to provide greater reinforcement.
