I remember seeing laptops with actually good keyboards in video reviews and such, but they were all specialty/niche things with a pricetag to match their rare feature(s).
I've always just taken a small 2.4ghz keyboard with me when I travel. Not that's it's particularly good - a Logitech K400r mushy type, but it travels well and I always just plug my laptops into a screen and use them from a couch or chair. I have considered upgrading, so whatever Opa decides to get might be my new travel keyboard as well.
Keyboards - what do you use? +suggestions
Re: Keyboards - what do you use? +suggestions
Let’s be honest here, mechanical keyboards aren’t automatically magic and membrane keyboards aren’t automatically crap.
If anyone is looking for a full-sized red switched, red backlit keyboard I’ve got one very slightly used I’d let go cheaply.

I don't think anyone is saying that?
If I have the choice I tend to prefer mechanical but the membrane on my laptop works fine with no complaints.
Re: Keyboards - what do you use? +suggestions
The thing about mechanical versus membrane, for me, is that membrane keyboards will wear out and eventually feel mushy while a mechanical keyboard will feel the same for pretty much ever. And in my case, since I really pound the keys, I tend to wear out membrane keyboards fairly quickly.

I freakin' love amazon product pages. Look at this crap. They stole some image of office workers looking at a document and threw the keyboard on the table. LOL
I especially like that the one lady is taking notes.

I was gonna buy a Tecware Phantom but then I saw one of these for $19. I got a black E-Yooso Z-88 with brown switches (which looks like it went out of stock because I don't see it on the page anymore). The keyboard is hot swappable and came with five spare switches. I swapped a switch to test it out and it worked fine. The keyboard uses outemu switches (chinese mx clone). My other keyboard uses a different brand (also a clone) but I like the feeling of these browns better than reds. One negative I will say: the keyboard does have some metal spring to it with the space bar but it's not a deal-breaker or anything.
The RGB lighting is fixed by row (red row stays red, blue stays blue, etc). I actually kind of like this better than a rainbow RGB. The rainbow keyboards always seemed a bit spastic for my taste. There are some effects that you can use with the lighting (ripple, waves, etc) but I typically leave the lights on the normal mode.

Nice!
I'm also not a fan of the rainbow RGB thing, especially on a keyboard. I originally wanted something with no backlight, or if it was backlit, something that could be turned off. But on my K70, I grew to love having the red backlit keys. It helps me to see the keyboard when the room isn't lit well enough.

I do think the red corsairs look really good.

I figured I'll post this here since it's peripheral-related.
I got one of those ergonomic mice. Best----mouse----ever. It's a more natural fit than a regular mouse and my wrist doesn't hurt any more. I'd recommend getting one. There's some variations of ergonomic mice. Here's what mine looks like.

Nice! I do have one myself. It's older though, and that rubberized sections turned sticky. Unfortunately this happens sometimes to this type of material (like PS2 thumbstick caps). I'd be using it right now if it wasn't for that.
