You'd have a hard time paying your expenses too if your income crapped out every fall. You see, unlike in NYC, my area doesn't have gainful year-round employment. Best one can hope for is being eligible for unemployment benefits while possibly working fewer hours at one of the few places open year-round. Last summer, I was working up to 60-70 hours a week. By October I was working 25.

Between that and the constant threat of weather fucking up one's day to day life, I'm ready to just pack up my shit and hitchhike to NYC, where I can work 40-60 hours year-round and not have to worry about everything coming to a grinding halt just because Mother Nature is having a temper tantrum.

Ya'll don't have gas stations, fast food/restaurants, shopping centers/grocery stores, construction jobs, the list can go on. Hell I lived in bumfuck Mountain home, Id while going to Boise St and always found some kind of job. I guess maybe you don't have a car, so you have to use Pat and Ben to get around that's limit your job opportunities?

Pat and Ben? I use a bike. And most jobs usually are only hiring at the very beginning of the season, and even then a lot of places usually hire J1 students.

 Mother Nature has been having another temper tantrum for about a week. Gale force north winds, wind chill n the upper 40s and Highway 12 has been closed north of Rodanthe for a few days. The dumpsters everywhere it seems are packed full due to the garbage trucks not being able to get down here. May is supposed to be warm and breezy, not cold and blowing 20+mph!

 What kind of problems could pot bring your area? More money for the local economy, and more donuts sold at the place you work?

Speaking of weed, I am 2 days into a tolerance break. I've been smoking way too much lately with how stressful life has been, but I finished my semester on Monday so I figured it was a good time to pump the brakes a bit. Yesterday sucked, and I couldn't sleep. Going to drive down to new Mexico in a few weeks to get some edibles for my mom (helps with chemo) and hopefully by then my tolerance will have reset. I'm really underweight and smoking is the only thing that keeps me at a remotely healthy weight.
