and then there is the other type... who wont even try for themselves and come to a forum and ask an easily searched question. I hope you weren't referring to me with the google thing, because i did take a moment to provide a helpful link. It pisses me off when people are to lazy to check a quick seach engine before asking a question. Seriously, how hard is it. Sure some things are impossible to fine, but other things show right up.

What's the general quality I can expect out of the emulators available on PSP? Can I expect most SNES and Genesis games to run at full speed?

I have some slowdown on SNES games but out of the 100 or so i've played its only happened noticibly on about 3. i have had no slowdown issues with Genesis, but have had a few graphical issues.. not many though. For the most part the emulation is spot on.

Sounds decent enough. I'm assuming NES is spot on then as well.

How does the PS1 emulation compare to something like ePSXe on the PC? Can you use save states and such?

By the way, the reason I ask is because I only use my PSP at home. It's just too big and too fragile to take places, so I usually stick to playing my GBA with flashcart when out and about.

I'm just wondering if emulation and eBoots are worth it considering I have a PC set up with everything already and a good PC game pad.

No I wasn't addressing you at all with my post actually. I was just speaking my mind without really targeting anyone specifically. You did actually provide a useful link so I don't really have an issue with that.

However, I disagree with you on one thing. What's the difference between a google search or coming to a forum? Just two different ways of getting to the same end. At least with a good forum, you know you'll get a good answer from knowledgeable people versus wasting time on many useless sites and links that a google search will often bring you. Why do you think so many people ask questions on this forum? Google doesn't always provide quick and efficient answers although that seems to be the myth that many people believe in. What annoys me is that so many people seem more concerned about looking down on someone for not being able to find the answers themselves than they are about actually being a helpful human being. Makes me question whether or not people have their priorities in the right place. There's waaaaay too much ego on the internet these days and I'm probably guilty of it too

It's ironic, because when google does turn up something that is useful, it is usually from someone who actually took the time to try and help people rather than turn their noses up and say, "Go find it yourself loser!"

It's Sony's emulator, used for the downloaded titles through psn, so the quality is more or less spot on, but it doesnt have as much "stuff" as epsxe (i.e. save states).
As for if it's worth it...Everything works pretty well, though snes leaves a little (just a little) something to be desired, but it's portable where as a pc is not. So, if you want portable, it's probably as good as it's going to get for a while.

I have had no graphical or slowdown issues with PSone games. As mentioned, it is the official sony emulator, exactly like if you download a PSone title from the playstation store. The menu and things are consistant with the normal home screen for your PSP (or PS3 if you are familiar with playing a PSone game on that beast) The only thing that sucks about playing PSone games is the lack of L2 and R2 buttons, and in rare instances the lack of second analogue stick. There are options to remap the buttons but for games that use all of the buttons it can be a pain.

The Aimersoft one? I like it because its very simple to use. Just load up my DVD, check off what I want, then choose a format. Were you gonna just try a trail version, or look for a crack?

I'd say the general quality is very good. Most SNES games run great. The Donkey Kong Country's run slow, Super Mario RPG and a few others. But I'm sure the kinks will get worked out of that eventually. I think most games with chips don't run at full speed, and the DKC's have that crazy "32-bit ported to 16-bit" thing going on.

I haven't noticed any problems with any of my Genesis ROMs, but I don't have that many. I have yet to try and play a Sega CD game, but I hear it runs alright. I have an emulator for N64, which doesn't support sound yet, but the games I tested run at full speed (Mario 64, Goldeneye and Cruisin' USA). I'm not sure if there's a newer version out yet (that supports sound), so let me know if you come across one lol!

Those are the only emulators I have used so far though, so can't help you out with any more than that.

Ziggy, Looking for a cracked program.....

Here are the emulators I use..

NesterJ - NES emulator, I have had no issues with on anything I have tried. Make sure you get the correct version for your firmware.. look for FW2.XX or something of that nature (assuming you are using a psp slim.) The one I use is FW2.xx+devhook

SNES9x - SNES emulator... I have had the same problems with DKC but the sequals play a little better, but still some slowdown.. Batman the Animated Series also had unplayable slowdown. Playing Turtles in Time the game locked up on a later level. I may just have a bad ROM, I didnt test for the same error anywhere else. Most games run perfectly fine though.

PicoDrive - I have played a bunch of Sega CD games and have had no issues at all so I can vouch for that. Played through Snatcher, Sonic CD, and a few others.
Games I have had graphical issues in terms of Genesis are Greatest Heavyweights, the boxers are distorted... Fifa 96 has some minor graphical problems but nothing unplayable. Cant think of anything else messed up.
All of the 32x games I have tried have had no problems. All of the 16/32 bit Sega games use the same emulator. I have v1.51.

I havent tried N64 yet, but I would hate the button layout options anyway.

unOfficial gpSP - Kai. GBA emulator - i had some problems finding a working emulator, and the program interfaces for the one I decided on has some issues, but the games run fine. I use version 3.2 test 8.7

Masterboy - the Gameboy, Gameboy Color, Sega Master System, and Game Gear emulator all in one. Have had no issues with any games on that one. i use v 2.02

For as small a market it is PSP emulation is really good.
