So I clicked that link, and instead of letting me see it, it led me to their homepage, and when I tried modifying the URL, it gave me a 404 and their site insulted me. So, with no alternatives, I clicked the only button on their site that looked like it would give me a picture, and was presented with an image of Bowser sodomizing a Koopa Troopa.

Fuck this website.
Lol!

Ok, after looking at it...yeah, I can tell a difference between the original and smooth/crisp, though between those two it's not as noticeable. Smooth looks foggier than crisp does to me. But, like Fast says, I'd like to see it in action before I make a decision.

Such a compelling argument Mozgus. I will stand by my original statement and say I want to see it in motion.

This may actually push me to picking up a copy, so I can jam out to the music of Queen while doing combos of doom.

What the fuck do you want from me? I think "smooth" looks bad. Get over it. It's nothing special. Emulators have been doing this effect for many years. It looks nasty, yes even in motion.

Yeah, it kinda sucks that Capcom is content to do the exact same thing that I was able to ten years ago with SNES9x. I'm mean, I'd expect that from Sega and their lazy-ass Genesis Collection on PS3/360, but I expect a bit more from Capcom.

But, whatever. It's not like I'm forced to use the filter, and it'll hardly make much of a difference regardless. Graphics are the least of my concern with this game.

agreed with the sega comment, but either way im not really gonna give a shit if im playing with jagged or "smoothed" sprites, because more than likely characters will be flying across the screen at all times

I was actually curious as to if you had a real argument not just “looks fucking terrible” and “born with eyes.” In the past you have provided technical reasons and statistics to back up your statements, so this was very disappointing. I was hoping you would actually shed some light on the subject for those of us not as well informed with the different types of filters – ala the PSX Graphical Update topic.

I took the images of both smooth and crisp and zoomed into the pixels in photoshop and the difference even there is minuscule. Granted this is all hearsay until we see it in motion with the filters – one may have an awful blurring effect, like the old Snes9x Street Fighter 2 issues.

Maybe I don't have to defend every one of my little opinions? Why do you care what I think anyway? I just don't like sprites being smudged, especially when they're on 3D backgrounds. I've learned how awful this looks on PS1 emulation.
