Crap Mame

Post by the King »

I'm sure anyone who visits any arcade forums have seen this before, but I did a search and didn't see it posted here.

I remember when some of them were posted on BYOAC, I am partial to the Pacmatt plane. There are some good laughs here.

Funny, and lots of valid points. But I've got to say I liked a lot of the ideas in some of those cabs. The "TV Tray" design was pretty cool IMO. And the workmanship on the pinmame machine was really nice, even if the concept sucks.

Also, he wants people to design their control panels so that anyone could come up and play. But he also wants people to configure MAME to use the same buttons for different functions in different games. I think these goals are mutually exclusive. Overloading the functions of your buttons will be more confusing to someone who doesn't know what's up. Putting a set of buttons near your trackball, spinner, whatever, makes it clear what those buttons are for.

hahahaha there are some real winners in there.

I remember having a Ms. PacMan cab and wanting to make a MAME cab out of it, but there is really no good way to do a 2 player CP in that limited space without hacking it all up. I decided to just get rid of it, I didn't have the space for it anyways.

Yeah, like I really like the Arcade Reboot art, almost did a simliar side art on my multicade(48 in 1 board), but the X-Arcade stick ruins the thing.

Some of those Mame cabinets wouldn't be so bad if they took off the extra buttons and contact paper.
