Please, if you can, get tested. I’m glad you recovered so quickly, but I don’t want you to risk spreading your sickness to others.

If I could, I would. But if it is something bad, wouldn't I be spreading it by leaving my house? My mom isn't vaccinated, which worries me, especially she stopped by to borrow some money. So I probably can't ask her. And riding my bike would expose me both to other people and the intense heat (heat index is 99°F). Thankfully I don't need anything from the store so I can just stay home all day.

No, riding your bike is *fine*. Wear a mask.

Here's what you do: you ask your mom or someone you know to pick up a quick COVID test for you and deliver it to you. If you and they both wear a mask that basic handoff is super low-risk. Take the test and then you know whether it's just a cold or something you need to isolate for several days for. Boom! Easy-peasy.

Also, your mom needs to get that vaccine.

You can get tests delivered there? If so most definitely do that. Hell, even if you gotta bike it's still doable. Just wear a mask because you'll go by people in like 2-3 seconds. I know delta is as easy to spread as chicken pox but it won't happen if you just drive past them.

Not getting tested despite having the virus means that when you go to work tomorrow you might be indirectly responsible for the deaths of others.

I'm having trouble occasionally confusing Bape with vape, just because words are hard. It's conjuring some bizarre mental images.

So I didn't post about it here yet, although the guys in Slack know about it; but I lost my dog of 17 years last week. He had cancer that included two ulcerated tumors, and while it was never confirmed, I suspect it had spread to the muscle in one of his legs. He also had congestive heart failure, although the cancer is why I made the decision to put him to sleep. I got him when he was two months old and I was in the 6th grade; he died when he was 17 years old and I was just three months shy of 30. He was my best friend and my entire world. His urn came in today, so he's finally in his resting place which is why I'm now making this post. Every day since his death has been a struggle, but I've managed with the help of friends both here and in real life. Flake sent me a beagle wine bottle holder so "statue Jack can hold a bottle of wine for when [I] want to remember and toast real Jack," and marurun sent me a really sweet condolence card. Ack called me, and we talked for over an hour. I've been surrounded by an unbelievable amount of love and support, but nothing fills the hole that dog left in my heart when he passed. Here's a picture of him from about four years ago along with his urn (I'm having a picture printed to put in the frame on the front).

Rest in peace, Jack. Thank you for 17 amazing years of love and friendship.

So sorry to hear about your loss, Elk. I know you gave Jack a great life and did the most you could to provide for him and keep him comfortable. It's tough but try to keep your spirits high.

I'm so sorry to hear about you losing Jack, Elkin. Be kind to yourself and give yourself all the time you need to heal.
