Protip: avoid Märchen Veil.

As far as shooters go, I spent the afternoon playing Centipede. What a great game. I love all the nuances to it: the "box" you're confined to, the way you can alter the centipede's trajectory, the poisoning of mushrooms, and so on. I was playing it on the 2600. My daughter has one of those Centipede mini-arcades.
2 player Centipede 7800 is my jam.

I spent a little time with the infamous Phalanx this morning. Seems pretty interesting gameplay-wise but I'm not a huge fan of the art style.

The complete lack of any intense banjo music does knock a point or two off.

Sexy Parodius. Apparently you have "goals" to accomplish in each stage. Right now I'm just playing casually but I'll have to pull up a guide when I want to do a serious shot at the game.

I think whether you accomplish the goals or not determines the next stage.

Yeah, most goals seem to be shoot X number of things or collect a certain number of coins. Sexy is a little more intense enemy number-wise. I may go back to earlier entries in the series for the moment.
There was a cool little Castlevania throwback for one stage though. One of the CV themes plays for a few seconds in the castle stage.

For those who doesn't know. R-Type Final 2 is another installment for this series. Playing it.

Play with the best or lose like the rest.

How does it compare to R-Type Final 1? I tried the first one over the years several times, but never loved it.

Did not play the Final 1. I don't know. It plays mostly the same as older R-Type games, with ships for you to pick and eye candy.

My single play. Stuck at stage 2.
Play with the best or lose like the rest.
