Resident Evil: Archives

Post by Ack »

So Capcom is rereleasing Resident Evil 1. Again. This time, it's combined with Resident Evil 0, and will include some functionality for the Wii remote. Anybody getting kind of tired of these Capcom Wii ports and updates?

I dont understand all these GC to Wii ports at all. I mean, Wii has perfect backwards compatibility, right? PS3 and 360 cant say the same. So why the hell do we keep getting GC to Wii ports? Where are the same for 360 and PS3? I guess Riddick is one. I can't think of much else.

My only guess is publishers are banking on the Wii audience being so incredibly dense that they wont even realize there's a flap that opens on the Wii and has Gamecube ports. I assume, there are many people this stupid.

All these gamecube to wii ports (pikmin, mario tennis, soon to be resident evil, etc) have implemented a control scheme using the wii remote and nunchuck, and motion sensing.
Although, I'm sure someone will point out that having the same game except with wii controls is a half assed way to make more money easily, these ports are still at least different from the original gamecube game in some way.

Yeah, they're most likely inferior. The games weren't designed from the ground up to use Wii controls. I dont see why they have to force Wii controls into them. This will only make people bitch about RE1's controls even more.

Actually, I don't believe RE0 is included. I thought I read somewhere that they would be sold separately for $30 each.

Anyway, the only thing I can say about the GC2Wii ports is that for certain titles (Metroid Prime, Pikmin, RE4), I'll gratefully accept motion control options over traditional GC controllers. Funny enough though, for particular Wii titles (Mario Kart, Smash Bros.) I actually prefer the GC controller..go figure.

The question is,
is it better to use Wii controller?
I think the RE1 is better with your regular controller

Hell, that just makes me less interested.

I don't have a problem with the constant re-releases, I just wish they would remake 2 & 3 like they did with the first one. At the very least they could release the originals on the PSN in america.

Capcom is pretty big on cheap fast ports, ie: dreamcast, gamecube, and now wii.
