My dad ordered an Italian from D'angelos once and they gave it to him without any meat at all.

I worked at a place that sold Philly cheesesteaks. Mayo was on the list of things that came on it. I can't tell you how many people actually wanted mayo on it. Fucking disgusting. I'm in GA.

The only thing mayo can go on is a BLT, and then it has to be miracle whip.

I was with someone and we went to a chicago style restaurant. We both got Italian Beef. Then he put Mayo on it. He's black. Someone asked if anyone was black in here and I'm not sure why, I guess black people love mayo?

Mayo comes on the Spicy chicken sandwich at wendy's but they don't put very much on it and I usually can't tell.

I also don't really understand Ranch dressing on buffalo wings. It's too overwhelming and drowns out the taste. Bleu cheese dressing is much better imo.

And don't even get me started on the Ketchup on chicago hotdogs topic. . .

Your friend needs to be taken out back and shot like Old Yeller for ruining one of the finest sandwiches ever made.

I work in an italian restaurant/sandwich place in the summer. I alos like to consider myself a huge afficiando of food especially sandwiches.... I spend plenty of time convincing customers to not ask for mayo on their sandwiches. I think mayo is one of the foulest things around. I cringe when my friends get mayo or my girlfriend gets mayo.... I seem to routinely tell them how much of a foul sonofabitch they are. Italian sandwiches should never contain mayo, it totally takes away from meats and oil and vinegar.... meats are typcially salted and that should reflect in the taste.

"Japanese Pizza" isn't Pizza. "Okonomiyaki" is more like an omelette:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Okonomiyaki

And depending where you buy it, they mix in noodles, cabbage and other things too, and often top it with fish flakes, which despite sounding awful are very nice. The Japanese are big on salty and savoury food, and really make it work well.

Also Japanese Mayonnaise uses a soy base, as opposed to western mayo that uses mostly egg white. The taste is completely different.

(Apologies to the Wikipedia haters, but it was just convenient as they listed the variations and ingredients pretty concisely).

Wrong. People refer to okonomiyaki as "Japanese Pizza," but the Japanese still have actual pizza places albeit with very different toppings (mayonnaise and squid for example). As you said Japanese mayo is made differently, and even though I've been there, I can't recall if I've had it or not.

Yeah, I've seen print ads for Domino's in Japan. Didn't see Mayo on it, but I did see a lot of seafood on the pizzas. Of course, that kinda comes with the territory when you live on a small island dominated by fishing.

I'm actually surprised squid isn't offered as a topping at more pizza places in the U.S. Calamari is in nearly every italian restaurant you go to and most the time it comes with marinara sauce to dip in. So calamari + pizza seems pretty logical. More logical than frickin ham and pinapple. . . yuck.

There's a few places around here that have it (and when I say few, I mean like 3). It's breaded of course like calamari is served... but we do serve it some places. It's almost always an Italian joint though that already has it on the menu as calamari... otherwise it's not really cost effective as it is expensive and isn't really going to be asked for that much as a pizza topping. So you need a primary avenue of getting rid of your stock. A place like Papa John's or Pizza Hut would never sell it... they usually have a hard time getting their anchovies out the door (thankfully anchovies hold for a very long time... yeah next time you order that crap just think how long they've probably had that shit sitting in their freezer). Notice how not all Pizza Hut's and Papa John's carry anchovies???

And I wouldn't be surprised if big cities like New York had it. I've been able to get almost anything in certain places like New York and Baltimore. Not like I could walk into ANY joint and get strange stuff... but I certainly have been able to get all kinds of weird stuff from little shops here and there in those cities among others.

But I never checked those area for squid on my pizza. I mean come on, my pops and I weren't gonna get something strange in some city and go "hey let's get some pizza!"... no we were like, "hey let's get some raw octopus tentacles!"

We also have some specialty pizza joints around here that serve some really weird stuff on pizza. We usually end up at one at like 3 in the morning drunk off our asses and attempting to shove odd shit in our mouth that we can't really figure out what it is. I gotta be careful though, no shell fish... or I'm asking for trouble.

I don't know what it is, but drinking makes me want to eat all kinds of things. That's probably why Jack does so well... who would think a late night sushi bar in a gay club would do so well???? Well it sure does... man now I want a fuckin' eel roll.
