Mobile Light Force series

Post by PGchris »

I don't know anything about this series but both mobile light force 1 and 2 were at my local game shop in the bargain bin for 2.50 each. Not only did they have some of the cheesiest cover art but when I looked a little bit closer I realized that both games had the exact same cover art. So I just kind of thought wow the developers of this game must just be trying hock off some garbage games and I put them back but after checking out some youtube videos they actually look like they might be halfway decent shooters. So my question is are these games any good? Is this a case of me judging a book by it's cover?

Yes the covers are god awfully but the games really aren't that bad. Mobile light force 1 is actually gunbird and mobile light force 2 is castle shikigami. So if you like shmups $2.50 ain't a bad price.

They are both great shooters. Funny story on these actually. I have had Gunbird 2 for the Dreamcast and Castle Shikigami 2 for the Playstation 2 for ages. I asked myself once if the first game in either series had come out here, and found out about "Mobile Light Farce" Er, I mean "Force". Some developer got the rights to release these domestically and decided on some cheesy cover art that had nothing to do with the games at all.

As someone already mentioned, Mobile Light Force 1 = Gunbird 1, and Mobile Light Force 2 = Castle Shikigami 1. I have the PS2 HDD, and an HD loader disc, so I just put Mobile Light Force 2 on the HDD with Castle Shikigami 2 and labled it by its correct name, Castle Shikigami 1. I put the disc and case on the shelf, never to be looked at again.

Both are worthwhile for your collection, but you have to learn to ignore whatever Charlie's Angels knockoff BS they were smoking when the released those like that.
