Does Simpsons Hit and Run get any better?

Post by o.pwuaioc »

Title says it all. I'm on the fourth or fifth race and I dunno, I just find this whole thing just boring. The racing segments are lackluster and everything else is just fetch quests with a time limit. Yawn. Does this game ever get interesting?

I admit, I don't recall it ever getting better.

I have written short stories that I still do edit passes on a decade later. I work in film and television production, and half the time is spent moving equipment and making sure no one can read the labels on anything, while the other half is watching repetition and yelling at the sound guy because the boom is in the fucking shot AGAIN. Today I did a locations gig: 200+ photos of stove tops. I wrote a screenplay; it took months to plan, to chart, and to sit and write, and I may have more months of edits on top of the next screenplay.

All of it takes work. I have spent hours agonizing over a word in an article I was writing or a sentence in a paper. If you love it, great, but to put something out there is to love and hate it and yourself at the same time.

I don't think it's any worse. I think it's the same. Video games are just another creative medium where people put in lots of work and struggle to find an audience. For creative types who want to be seen and recognized it's the same problem as has always existed.

I watched the making of street fighter . Arcade version just 6MB and SNES is 2MB. Just show that gameplay, fun, and art is not tied to hardware capability. Also mind blowing where we used to be and where we are. 6MB on a cabinet costing thousands you have to rent for quarters to use, now 100GB on a disc and few TB on a wallet sized spinning disk.

Amazing research by this guy, don't know where he got his info but very detailed and entertaining. As if he was part of the development team.

Am I going too deep into research for my long-term Zelda project?

Bummer, I was really hoping this would be like a GTA3 for Simpsons, but it's so uninspired and lackluster.

Looking today out of curiosity, I’m surprised to find that if you are okay with disc/cart only games, the GameStop is actually pretty decent for retro stuff price wise, especially compared to eBay. They don’t have exhaustive catalogs or anything, but it’s surprising how much rare/expensive stuff they have for $100 or less.

EDIT: I’m an idiot, all of those games with good prices aren’t available and apparently never show up on the site. Well craaaap. Wth else am I going to find Valkyrie Profile for $65?

I kind of hate that eBay is my only real option for retro games. I’ll never be able to find the stuff I’m after for a decent price at this rate.
