For those who been here awhile how was this website when it first came around? I first found it cause of the saturn coverage but what was the main focus of this site when it first came out?
Was anyone here not a genesis fan but a saturn and later fan like me?
What was racket boy like when it first started?
Re: What was racket boy like when it first started?
While I always wanted a Genesis, I never felt too badly about not getting one. I stuck with the SNES and it worked out well for me. My first Sega system was the Game Gear, but my first Sega console was the Dreamcast. It wasn't until about a few years ago that I got a Sega Saturn, and then by luck came across a deal of a lifetime by getting about $250 worth of Genesis stuff for $37 at a flea market.
Even though I missed out on the Saturn, I always wanted one. I remember being a kid, looking at those screens of X-Men vs Street Fighter and Fighters Megamix, and drooling all the while. It was my techno-lust for the Saturn that drove me to get a Dreamcast in the first place.
Now all I need is a Sega CD and Master System and my collection will be complete. (I think I can skip the 32X without feeling too bad. =P)

Check out these links to what Racetboy.com looked like in 2005:

On a side note - I love looking at the "wayback machine's" archived versions of webpages. (Racket I hope you don't mind that I posted those links)

That's the racketboy I remember.
I'm like aaron, I came here from SX where I meet racket. It's changed a mighty bit since I first came here... strangely I didn't even notice that it changed.

I don't even remember why I came here. I think it was probably along the lines of Saturn modchips. I've been here for years though.

I found this place by means entirely forgotten. What I do recall is that I was interested in this site because of it's wonderful coverage of the Dreamcast. From there I began to realize that it is home to one of the best libraries of Shmup and 2-D fighting games on the web. I only hope that there will be additions to these lists in the future as it is one of the sites strong points.
I don't play games, I experience them.

I started out a genesis fan and game gear fan and went from there

Ah, I just remembered how I found racketboy! I had just gotten a Saturn, and was looking for a way to keep my games on a shelf without using the very fragile jewel cases, which eventually led me here (http://www.racketboy.com/retro/2006/10/ ... oject.html), as well as the cover project.
