Even if the countdown page is fake (I assume your talking about the countdown page, correct?), it really doesn't mean that MvC2 isn't being released. We've already seen online stores breaking street date with PS3 and X360 MvC2 joysticks, and we've already seen the achievement list leaked. Unless those were also faked, this is going to happen sometime.
The countdown probably isn't even the countdown to launch, but just the countdown 'til the official announcement that it is coming. (Atlus and Square Enix did the same thing with P3:FES and Chrono Trigger DS, respectively.)
