What Made you Smile/What Ticked you off Today?
Re: What Made you Smile/What Ticked you off Today?
Remnants of Hurricane Sally caused nasty flooding here in town. Yesterday and today I had to call out. That's two missed shifts after they've starting cutting my hours. Today my yard is damn near completely flooded.

Adventure Time got continued on there, but realistically speaking I think it's going to be a comic that releases.
That's actually a separate series, not an official continuation of the main series.
Infinity Train got continued on HBO Max after CN passed on season three.
Speaking of which, if anyone is looking for a really good cartoon series after the conclusion of Steven Universe, I heartily recommend Infinity Train. Imagine a more fun, less pretentious version of Snowpiercer. There's also a little bit of early X-Files influence here too (think monster o' the week). Good mysteries abound. Check it out.

Yep, I scheduled it. Working with Cartoon Network on it was...interesting to say the least. But then, Cartoon always was.

Neat! Now that you no longer work for CN, can you share any behind-the-scenes stories with us?
Re: What Made you Smile/What Ticked you off Today?
Ha, sure. You know the fish tank that Adult Swim sometimes airs in the middle of the night or uses as the background for death metal bands? It's in their office, with cameras rigged around it, 24/7.
They're largely independent of Cartoon, though because they share channel space, the two do work together a lot. However, they keep things to themselves that nobody knows about. The completely uncensored episodes that are running on HBO Max now? Nobody knew they existed outside of a couple of AS folks. They were storing those video files on a computer under a guy's desk in their office. The main QC folks didn't even know they existed until AS casually mentioned it offhand in a meeting with us one day, back in April.

I didn't even know there were uncensored episodes on HBO Max. I watched Primal (which I didn't even know existed and I absolutely love), Space Ghost C2C, and Aqua Teen Hunger Force so far. I'm pretty sure ATHF is censored same as it always was. I'm not complaining too hard though, I've enjoyed seeing all this stuff again. Space Ghost C2C especially strikes me as a perfect time capsule of 1990s low budget late night television. This was the kinda crap that I loved when I was a kid. It felt so weird and experimental. It still feels that way now that I'm rewatching with adult eyes.
It's a blast from the past.

Yeah, unfortunately we can't show all of Space Ghost Coast to Coast. Turns out we didn't negotiate digital streaming rights with some of the guests(a blanket distribution agreement)...who are now deceased. So there are several missing episodes as a result.
Also, there is one missing Boondocks episode. It aired once on Adult Swim (The Ballad of Johnny Rebel), and they refuse to show it again. Max decided to honor their wishes and doesn't have it up.

Didn't know any of this. It's a shame about the missing Space Ghost C2C episodes. I'm not going to pretend to be a legal expert here. It's just silly you can't stream episodes with guests who are now deceased. Oh well, the show was always bonkers anyway. It's not like Space Ghost was telling a story in chronological order; it was always gonzo madness. I seem to recall that there were different versions of different episodes anyway. Like... wasn't there a different version of the Jim Carrey episode that got included on the Mask VHS tape? It could be that I'm mis-remembering stuff from adolescence.
I didn't know about Adult Swim banning an episode of Boondocks. I have that one on DVD anyway. If I really want to see it, then I can climb up into the attic and sort through boxes of DVDs to find it. To be honest, it wasn't all that memorable of an episode anyway. I had to google to know which episode you were talking about. Probably not a huge loss.

Adult Swim is such an interesting company/channel to me. It's 1/2 a channel, shared with CN, yet it's managed to maintain a massive following. It shows fairly adult/graphic content every night after CN finishes airing for the day, and there's somehow no backlash around that. It's also starting to grow at a pretty good pace- they have a game publishing business and they regularly work with artists to release music. Wouldn't be surprised if they end up a lil boutique label like Brain feeder at some point too.
I remember when I was really young I didn't fully understand why Cartoon Network wasn't on late at night, I'd check the channel and for some reason the bumpers scared me so I'd turn it off
that was back when they actually used pools in the bumpers I believe.

Re: What Made you Smile/What Ticked you off Today?
Heh, a lot of folks don't realize how separate the two are. AS was born from CN employees. If AS were run 24 hours a day, and kept the same profit rate, it would be the most successful channel on TV. Which is great, because CN yo-yos in profitability. Kids programming is actually really hard to run due to heavier advertising restrictions, so companies fight tooth and claw over it. CN, Disney, and Nickelodeon are in a constant fight.
As for Boondocks, it's not the first time. One episode pissed off Tyler Perry, so we didn't show it for years. Hey, it's Atlanta.
