I would never hook you up to a Virtual Boy. I care about your eyes, friend!noiseredux wrote:The only Ninty console I'm missing is a Virtual Boy if anyone wants to hook me up, haha.
Awesome to hear about the kiddo. Mine is approaching 4, and while it's very challenging, some of the stuff that comes out of his mouth is hilarious.

Noise! Good to hear from you. I’m glad to hear you’re doing well. Those handhelds are going to be your friends for the next few years!

I feel like the video streaming honeymoon is over, each company and IP holder is building their own exclusive streaming service which means to catch all the shows you have to subscribe to all of them vs the usually $10/m Netflix it will be something closer to $50/m Netflix/HBO-Now/Apple tv+/Disney+/Hulu/Peacock. Honestly still not a bad deal considering the amount of shows you will have access to 24/7 whenever-where ever you want for the whole family, especially considering what cable used to cost and you had to wait for the scheduled shows...none the less I feel the pirates will rise on the bay once again!
Re: Random Thoughts Thread
What cable use to (and still does) cost is why I got rid of it. Having all these individual streaming services each with something exclusive really pisses me off. I'm not buying into it though. For example, I'm still pissed that Hulu lost South Park but I'm really not willing to pay for more streaming services.

We're going to find that going a la cart is more expensive than cable's bundles.

Re: Random Thoughts Thread
The whole tv industry is jacked up. The reason they cant go alacarte is because of contracts written in the 50s-70s (as providers were coming into power) saying things like "If you carry NBC you have to carry these other channels." They have been amended adding in companies bought by the power players and splits, but it really needs to be struck clean and restarted. If they did not have these stupid stipulations, you could buy channels alacarte and it would not cost more than a package. So instead they are going to throttle streaming services that they dont own and have horror stories of "you can buy our package or these fourteen streaming services and isnt our package cheaper" when in reality most people have two or three.

I don't recall how much cable costs I think it was like $60-70 monthly. Honestly in 90s it was expensive kind of but the stuff you got was awesome. My issue was always the scheduled shows having to catch the episode. I won't lie though...it really gave a different taste to tv watching when you have to stop everything and make time because "x" is on! It was a different level of excitement. One thing I don't get is the plethora of channels, there are so many channels i wonder if any one is actually watching them and some are very niche/specific.Ziggy587 wrote:What cable use to (and still does) cost is why I got rid of it. Cable companies(and studios) can go back to giving inconvenient locked services at high prices like $70 per title(which what I heard a VHS cost at release), and people can always get the shows elsewhere. Its their choice
