Haha, hard to recover from that one. How old is your account?fastbilly1 wrote: And yeah, after being on the site for 19 years, I still make a jump through Gamefaqs occasionally. On the site once someone responded to me that he was not going to argue with me because I had been on the site longer than he had been alive. I think he won based on that comment.

Almost 20 years. Made it to talk about GBA specifically.
Re: Random Thoughts Thread
This hits home. I never made an account there, but I was looking up cheats on GameFaqs as early as 1997 or 1998, iirc, and it provided an excellent walkthrough for getting all the secrets in Ogre Battle 64, which must have been 2002 when I played it.fastbilly1 wrote:Almost 20 years. The question is, how many of you still use GameFAQs???
I always have a tab with the website open. It almost never times out, so I'm constantly logged in too. I like to post reviews there.

I use Gamefaqs quite a bit especially if I'm trying to unlock bonus material in games. Used it for both the Yakuza and Lego series recently and it's the same guy who does the guides. Hats off to him/her those are beefy games to document.

The only time I don't is when no one has bothered to submit something to it for a game.BoneSnapDeez wrote:The question is, how many of you still use GameFAQs???

I've been going to GameFAQs for 25 years or so. It was one of the first websites I found when I was able to connect to the Internet.BoneSnapDeez wrote:The question is, how many of you still use GameFAQs???

I visit everyday to vote in their polls, but it still is a great resource. The Top 10's are usually interesting, so I like to read those. I follow FAQs mostly, so I make sure to copy one into a Word Document and keep that on my desktop. I like a game's summary as it usually has a good indication on how long or how hard a game is. I sometimes read reviews, but that is mostly for games I know little about.
I avoid their active forums as much as possible. Whenever I visit a forum on there, its mostly completely locked and the last post was made several years ago. I'm mostly looking for answers to questions I have about game.
Re: Random Thoughts Thread
It helps for research. I often will look at the Q&As and boards for specific games, especially if someone posts something interesting about the game's history, though more often it's some idiot claiming the board is theirs. If someone posted a map they made for a particular game, I'll always happily check it out too. I love game maps.
I also remember GameSages. And how GameSage was a weird bestiality porn site.

Moving tomorrow! Unfortunately my roommate isn't moving in til Friday, so I'll be there alone for a bit. Might bring some beer to the neighbors so I can make some friends out there.

Re: Random Thoughts Thread
Quick update, as I haven't been around for most of the year...
Yes, my daughter is now 14 months old and doing awesome. She's not into gaming... yet. But she does enjoy walking on our Wii Balance Board. And she thinks Pikachu is a "kitty." Good stuff.
But yes, I have a lot less time for talking about games now. When the baby's sleep schedule is decent, I do still find a fair amount of time to play stuff at night, though.
For the record, my tastes haven't changed so much as just reverted back to about a decade ago. The past couple years I've been gaming solely on Nintendo hardware. Old timers 'round here will be pleased to know that I play plenty of Game Boy games again now. The only Ninty console I'm missing is a Virtual Boy if anyone wants to hook me up, haha.
Anyway, hope everyone's good!
