There’s a great ASCII fighting pad for Dreamcast, and a number of decent joystick options.

HOLY CRAP!

Those are some awesome games, though they must have costed a pretty penny!

Awesome pick-up. I played a bit of this series in the arcades back in the day, and on the Vampire Chronicle JP release on the Dreamcast. Always thought the character designs from this series was pretty great.

I'm not the biggest fan of the PS1 or DC controllers for fighting games though. I'd like to experience one of these games with a Saturn pad or joystick.
The character designs are amazing for the Darkstalkers and it is one of the reasons I want to play more of it!

I have no interested in using the SDC for fighting games except for 3D ones. The D-Pad would destroy my thumb and I am terrible with joysticks.

The PS1/PS2 are my preferred consoles for fighting games because the D-Pad is so much softer. I can spam my Ryu Hadokens with no issue whatsoever!

I gotta track down a DC joystick eventually. That Saturn type pad for the DC looks cool too, but my thumbs get blisters easier than most from playing fighting games using pads, so a joystick is my preferred option for those kinda games.

There are so many good fighting games ported to the DC though! I spent so much time playing Marvel vs. Capcom 2 on that console. I agree that the DC d-pad destroys thumbs. I have SF Alpha 2 for PS1, but I recall not liking the d-pad for fighters, I remember having trouble getting out some of the moves, but I'll have to give it another go sometime -- see if I still feel the same about it. Comfortability is key though, so whatever works for you!

Finally got my holy grail!!!! Found devils third for the wii u for $100 yesterday, I have never spent that much on one game but this is a game that, regardless of its reputation, I have always wanted to play, and its average sale price is somewhere between $170-$200. What is particularly difficult about finding this game is that almost every copy of the game on the internet is sealed as the game has a bit of a sordid history.

It had an extremely limited north american release, got panned critically, there was a second print of it, but it was still limited and hard to find. I guess tons of people bought it and just never opened it because just about every auction is for a sealed copy and I have never seen this game out in the wild. I'm not expecting the game to be amazing, the gameplay I have seen of it looks like good dumb fun, but I'm glad to finally have a copy of this game.

I’ve been without a reliable internet conn3ction for the past ten days; so, now that I’m back home, I went nuts buying games on the eShop! I picked up:

Daggerhood
Doom 3
Fury Unleashed
La Mulana 2
Operencia: The Stolen Sun
West of Loathing

I’d never heard of Operencia until I saw it on sale. Apparently, it’s a solid first-person, grid-based dungeon crawler with turn-based combat. <swoon>

I also picked up the rest of the Johnny Turbo games:

Break Thru
Caveman Ninja
Express Raider
Fighter’s History
Heavy Barrel
Heavy Burger
Shoot Out
Sly Spy
Super Real Darwin

Finally, I downloaded Irem Arcade Hits for my MacBook. It is an insane collection of 18(!) really, really solid Irem arcade games available on the Mac App Store for a whopping $1.99. (I think it’s been de-listed from Steam, and I was surprised to see it still available for sale.) I am really, really excited about this one.

Devils Third came in the mail today!!!!!! I was really excited since I had a small amount of anxiety paying so much for a game without physically inspecting it but everything is in perfect shape and I played a little of the first level. So far it is everything I wanted it to be, bad voice acting, over the top violence, heads that pop off when you shoot them. I know this game got critically panned but just from the first 10 minutes I could tell I am going to love this game.

Congrats!!! You should PM ElkinFencer. If I recall, he said it’s the glorious video game equivalent of a DTV Steven Seagal film. He really like it too. I have yet to play my copy.

It was only $2, and I can’t get all the Johnny Turbo games except one!
