CRTs were more expensive to ship, but I wonder if the shipping of a 75 LCD equals '40 CRT, because what was lost in weight was gained in size. CRT were definitely heavier and therefor more expensive to ship but I recall prices were similar, does this mean that the manufacturer kept the cost savings?

Unlikely. While CRT screen size was smaller (the largest ones were what, maybe 40-42"?) they were much deeper, and of course could weigh several hundred pounds at that point. Modern flat panel screens are only large in a couple dimensions.

That said, shipping would have largely been to retail outlets, and the common models would have been much smaller. HD CRTs were not cheap at the time (the Sony 34XBNR960 people go for now had a $2200 MSRP), comparing to higher tier models of TV today. More typically, people would have been buying maybe a 27-32" TV for a few hundred bucks, and even the lower tier 55-60" flat panel they might buy today is a major improvement. Especially if you consider the level of standard features, integrated smart features, etc.

When I worked at a logistics warehouse and shipped/received shipping trailers from Mexico it was the opposite. It was about 200 crts to about 50 LCD per load coming in. Crts where loaded top to bottom, no pallets or any unused space, and had to be unloaded by hand by a crew. Lcds come in single stacked on pallets, 5 per pallet. So you got more per load with crts but cost more since its billed by weight.

Shouldn't they charge by capacity? 1 truck is moving for Mexico to USA, why does it matter how much it weighs? They are charging for the trip aren't they? If all they can carry in the truck is a huge cardboard box or 200 CRTs, its the same trip.

Looking at Doom, Sonic, and stuff like LaserDiscs, compact discs, and DVDs-which still holds its position today- I think we were much more advanced than we think we were in the 80s,90s, and even 70s. Sure, the CPU speeds were as slow as molasses at 16-33Mhz compared to today's standards and watching movies on VHS sounds primitive, but looking at the software it was pretty advanced. I think we should give more credit to ourselves (society, humanity) than looking back as if we were in the stone age. I am sure if Sonic was to be released today as a new game it will be popular and score 8-9/10, we were that advanced!

I have a cat that's very friendly but rather dumb. He's black as the night, he's so dark that you really can't make out detail on him unless he's in light. When I woke up this morning he was acting a little weird, and I don't think he ate. It was dark, so it was a little while until I realized what was going on. He was at the top of the stairs as I was going up, so I noticed his tongue was hanging out. So I went up to him to see why and something was definitely not right. I turned on a light and then I could see, he had his collar stuck in his bottom teeth. Those two fang teeth were actually piercing through the collar! So he couldn't close his mouth, which is why he couldn't eat. I was able to simply unlatch the collar and all is well now. I guess he must have been licking or biting at his collar (maybe it was too loose) and got it caught that way.

I used to have a couple black cats, and I got a bit nervous when I started reading your post, because one of our black cats had an idiopathic seizure and that lead to big vet bills and great nervousness and discomfort for the cat and for us, and all we really learned was there wasn't an identifiable cause and yes, his heart murmur was still an issue and would still ultimately do him in. We lost both our cats within about a 12 month period, all while we were still in the first 15 months or so of having our first child and the associated stress of lost sleep. So yeah, I'm glad your story was just crazy and not something worse.
