I always wondered how it would have been for people who lived in the same time as historically significant people like Shakespear and DaVinci. Can you imagine saying I had a chat with William Shakespear? Then again I think we too live in a time like that, some of the names I can think of are Stephen King, Steve Jobs, Bill Gates, Mohammed Ali, Tim Berners Lee. Generations closer to us got to see Tesla, Einstein, and Edison too.

You know roommate drama is bad that even if people that don't live there (me) are getting involved, and that I am seriously considering calling the police (and I'm far left).

Somehow I ended up with only 2 pairs of shorts. I don't feel like buying any, so I just cut down some old pants into shorts. First time I've done that since I was a kid in the 90s lol.

People think I'm a monster because I literally never wear shorts (Texas), and only wear pants. I literally don't remember the last time I went out in shorts, now that I think about it.

I love VLC, but I find myself hardly using it as the sun is setting for the torrent culture. Other than web embedded players, legal streaming of high quality video, that includes most titles produced, at cheap prices is faster and more convenient.

VLC Media Player became a bigger deal for me when I switched to Windows 10 since the OS doesn't come with DVD playback. Not only can VLC play DVDs out of the box (that idiom doesn't really work here but I'm using it anyway) but you can also play ISO files without having to mount them first. Until I can get my entire DVD/BD library on a streaming service AND have the bonus content available AND not have to pay for 10 different streaming services to get it all AND have a guarantee that things will never become unavailable, I will be keeping my physical media. I'm not into the torrent and pirate streaming thing. I do use a couple of legal streaming services in place of cable, and it's loads more convenient to watch through a TV series on streaming rather than having to switch discs a zillion times, but those shows will eventually be dropped and they still lack the bonus materials.

Hulu just dropped South Park and I'm pissed about it. I watched through the entire series on Hulu a couple of years ago. I did want to watch through the series again at some point, but now it's gone and it doesn't appear to be on any other legal streaming services. It's also 23 seasons and counting, so I'm not about to go out and get it on DVD or BD. It doesn't look like there's any large box sets available for cheap and even if each season was only $10 it would still be $230 to buy every season. But they're not all $10 each, more like $15 and up.

It's on (or headed to) HBO Max as they paid something like $500 million for the rights to it late last year.

VLC works perfect for you, but you a real rare case scenario. Most people out there have abandoned physical media purchase, sales are down and digital is up. Even those with physical media its likely to be on Bluray which VLC can't play and they will watch it on a BD player not on their computer which does not even come with a optical drive. You see where that is going? VLC is going the way of the Roxio Toast, there was a time where it was the greatest tool out there but people moved on and its use case is vanishing.
