Who is excited for streets of rage 4?
Re: Who is excited for streets of rage 4?
Their website says like 2-4 months from preorder's closing, right? Hopefully that means in the middle of summer at the latest? End of June? This is my first time with LRG, so I can't really give you my own experience. Anyone else have some better info as to how quick they've turned around?

2-4 months sounds abut right (though it usually leans closer to 4, I think).Blu wrote:Their website says like 2-4 months from preorder's closing, right? But with all the Covid stuff going on I know I've read that some of their production has been delayed/pushed back, so it's kind of hard to judge time frames at this point.

There's another physical edition available from Signature Edition Games and their expected release date is July 24th. I'd guess Limited Run Games' version will be released around the same date.
Own: Mega Drive, Saturn, Dreamcast, Playstation 1, Playstation 2, Playstation 3, Playstation 4, Playstation 5, PS Vita, Super Nintendo, Nintendo 64, Gamecube, Wii U, Game Boy Advance, DS, 3DS, Switch, Switch 2, Xbox, Xbox 360

Hang on, Streets of Rage 4 is getting a physical release in Europe? Why the fuck did I waste money and high shipping costs preordering the Limited Run Games edition?
Limited Run my ass. Limited Scam Games more like.

Re: Who is excited for streets of rage 4?
So I picked up the digital version on release since I couldn't wait any longer for a potential physical release (and apperantly there are multiple physical releases on the way -_-).
I've been sinking a lot of hours into the game. And I mean ALOT. Just getting accustomed to the new mechanics, unlocking all content and getting familiar with the roster of characters and their different iterations. I'm currently in process of 1CC'ing Mania difficulty with Blaze. I can currently get halfway in the campaign with one credit. The game is fun, and a bit addicting. But it's also a tad frustrating.
I have this love it/hate it situation with it. My issues with it mostly stemming from a game design perspective.
Essentially, the way the game's battle engine has been designed. It ignores, does away, and/or alters too much of the established core mechanics that made series what it was.
It completely ignored every mechanical contribution established in 3, like it never existed. It sticks to the more traditional SoR2 formula (which is fine) but alters it a bit too much imo.
Most of this revolving around the combo system and the way Specials now work in conjunction with the health gauge.
Some of the new additions in 4 are very much welcome and add to the experience. With that said, a few of the established mechanics that return, i feel weren't carefully considered or were tailored to fit into this system of offensive oriented, risk/reward that 4 brings forth.
Sorry for the long post -_-

Jeeze. I can only get to stage 3 on Mania lol. I bought this on Steam and Xbox to support it. Hope we get a similar Final Fight if they see stuff like this makes money.CD AGES wrote:I can currently get halfway in the campaign with one credit.

I hate Streets of Rage 4. It doesn't play like the original games at all. Nerfed Axel's Grand Upper (and he also has a horrible character design), enemy AI that doesn't match the older games, cheap BS like constant super armor on bosses, a stupid ranking system that no one asked for and most people playing the game hate (You get hit ONCE and you get NO CREDIT for your combo), and just cheap BS all around like the ridiculous hit box on Galsias with knives
Fortunately, the idiots who made this seem to realize how awful it is, as they are working on a patch that will re-work many aspects of this crap sequel. See Tetsuo9999's youtube channel

LOL. Entitled to his opinion.
I enjoy it quite a bit. Brings me right back to playing Genesis as a kid.
Not sure why one would think it has to be the same as the 30 year old games that came before it.
Getting hit and losing your combo just makes you work harder at not getting hit.
I don't find it cheap at all, and there are ways around everything he complained about. Can also just ignore the ranking system.

Re: Who is excited for streets of rage 4?
I finally played Streets of Rage 4 tonight.
My friend has a Switch and he bought the Physical Copy. We played through the game on Easy with Axel and Blaze.
We are both diehard Streets of Rage fans. We've played either SOR1 or SOR2 at least once a month for probably the last 12 - 15 years. We've been waiting 25 years or so for this game. My friend normally hates modern gaming and anything new. The hype and expectations for this game were sky high for us.
And it met every single one of them.
It was fantastic. My friend even loved it. He got the soundtrack and we were not feeling the new music, so we put on the Retro Soundtrack and it fixed everything.
If you have any doubts or have any fondness for Streets of Rage, pick it up and play it. Such a fantastic game.
I think SOR1 & SOR2 are better games, but I'd put SOR4 right behind them. Blows SOR3 out of the water. Also, if you can, play the Streets of Rage Remake. That is an amazing game as well.
