Good lord, be more dramatic! Stan Lee wouldn't give a shit one way or the other.

This comic, and Safespace and Snowflake particular, are so out there one might think it's supposed to mock the people it's supposedly intended to represent.

But really, whether it's serious or parody, the whole thing is irrelevant because the comic will probably be canned before it hits 7 issues. If you read big two comics with any regularity then you know that too.

Laugh at it all you want, I certainly did, but if you're genuinely angry about it (I can't tell if you're serious or not with that statement I quoted, because crazy, incessant whiners say that unironically all the time) you're wasting your energy.

As someone who struggles with drama, whining and mental health issues and is thus at higher risk of becoming a dramatic, crazy, incessant whiner, I find that outright offensive. So maybe don’t do that?

Cancelled and then killed off in a future event, the double whammy. No worse, a tie-in to a future event. I can see it now: "There are no safespaces from...ANNIHILUS!" Which would be par for the course as far as the New Warriors go.

Painfully true!

Marvel should pay you for that tagline. It'll be on a cover one day.

So one side of the fandom is laughing and mocking these characters and the other half is facepalming about a total failure to grasp subtlety and nuance.

marurun wrote:I can’t say this New Warriors team looks particularly interesting, but who knows. It does bother me that the mere though of having a plus size girl on a team is somehow an offense to the “complicated” characters comics are supposed to have. If the writer gives her a good personality and interesting stuff to do, great! I did love the shit out of the no-longer-very-new Ms. Marvel and a lot of folks balked at the idea of some teenage Muslim girl who doesn’t wear a spandex bikini for a costume. Turns out a good writer can write a good story with a good character. Who knew?

I flipping love Kamala Khan!

I like that they're making new characters instead of trying to go the legacy route like All New, All Different but I don't see it being very popular. I agree with Maru that's it's just too on the nose. It's also launching at the worst possible moment for a comic to launch so it's got pretty much everything going against it.
