There used to be a SNES modem called X-Band for the actual SNES console that you could play multiplayer games with over a dial-up service. I loved the X-Band, but the service was taken down many years ago.
Does anyone know if any of the SNES emulators out there allow you to pick up a game of Street Fighter II or something like that online?
Is there a way to player emulated snes online?

I couldn't tell you how, but yes, they do. A friend of mine used to play Mortal Kombat against a buddy in Canada.

I played a friend across the street with ZSNES's dial up feature way back in 99. Today, tons of emulators for many platforms have online functionality.

It's called Kaillera. I've never used it but lots of emulaters have it built in and I think it can be made to work in others.

So, how's the lag? These games weren't really designed to be lag tolerant, so I'd expect any lag at all to be significant. When a tenth of a second means the difference between winning and losing, as it often does, it seems like this would be a problem.
