most new 3d JRPGs - They just dont have the charm or pull that 2d ones have to me. I am sure this is stemmed from my awful luck with FFVII and its rabid fanbase.

I would say that FF7 is really the first example of a feminine appearing villain, and while feminine looking heroes may not have appeared until X(though I argued Ramza from FFT was a girl for a long time...), feminine villains did populate a few Final Fantasies before that. Especially Kuja or whatever his name was in FFIX.

Hmm..see, I feel there's a difference between a feminine guy and a guy in clown makeup or a jester's garb. Kefka always struck me as looking like a circus act.

Yeah funny that i have spent more time on Time Stalkers and Evoultion both not the hightest rated rpg's for the dreamcast. Yet Skies of Arcadia the best one or so im told just doesnt interest me at all and it's not from lack of trying.

I think when your character is literally either a transvestite or shemale (jury's out on this one) it doesn't count as an effeminant villian. Since the trope is the guy who kinda looks like a girl, but clearly is a man.

And I gotta agree with Ack on Kefka. Especially when you look at his overworld sprite, he's more of a batshit insane clown.

I'm sure I liked it for other reasons, but I think a big reason I still love FF6 is Kefka. He probably helped me look past the massive pile of useless PCs that game threw at you.

The overworld sprite isn't large or detailed enough to transfer any kind of feeling about androgyny. The battle sprite and Amano's own artwork do make Kefka out to be a little more effeminate. That's just Amano's style.
