The Outer Wilds is my game of 2019. Really cool puzzle/adventure/fps type game with a groundhog day styled progression system.
That said I think my favourite game I played for the first time this year was Ys VIII. Nothing flashy but a really solid and enjoyable action/rpg with a kind of wholesome feel. And unlike a lot of modern JRPGs I could actually stand it for its duration.
