Re: I'm positively surprised
I am interested in the Amiga CD32, but havent done any actual research yet, do you have one?Ivo wrote:I'm really surprised to see so many of you guys have a 3D0.
Are they really quite cheap on ebay or for some specific reason (you pointed out some of them, I guess) it's just more worth having one of these guys than say, the other "losing" consoles of that (particularly prolific) generation?
Any CD-i fans around, for example? I would think (based on nearly no facts) that an Atari Jaguar would be more interesting to own over these other machines.
I'm also personally biased on the Amiga CD32, but I doubt any of you guys have one or want one :)
Ivo.
dont really have any interest in the CD-i
i would get a jaguar if i found it for cheap, but I'm not hunting one down
and my christmas gift to myself was a JVC X'eye. my ol genny games never looked better!

I have a CD32 somewhere in my parent's house, not exactly sure where. But it is there.Jubal wrote: I am interested in the Amiga CD32, but havent done any actual research yet, do you have one?

What do you want to know about it? There are definitively good games for it, but not necessarily exclusives:
unfortunately most of the games are ports of regular Amiga "floppy" games; in some cases the games are slightly improved with better graphics (as in A1200 AGA chipset graphics rather than the older A500 compatible ones), and due to the extra storage space might have some FMVs and better music added, or due to the controller have better (any game where stuff gets mapped to 2 different buttons on the pad!) or worse controls (any game that runs better with a mouse, like Cannon Fodder).
You can get a A1200 and convert it into something that reads CD32 games with an appropriate external CD drive, or go the opposite direction and get a bunch of stuff (special adapter, floppy drive, keyboard, mouse) and convert your CD32 into a de facto A1200 with CD drive.
You can find out a lot of info on the web, as you might expect.

and on that board i found an FTP rom set, not sure about completeness tho (wish I wasnt on dialup)
ftp://schmoo.no-ip.com/
saw the cool, turn your amiga cd32 into a compy attachment...
I have a boxed 500, or is it the 500+ on the shelf, never have found a monitor for it yet
I guess the game set for it grab my attention, I like some of those euro styled games. and alot of those amiga games made it onto sega mega/genesis
what were your pics for best games on the console?
Re: I'm positively surprised
You can either get a RF modulator and connect it to a TV or try to get a monitor on ebay. Probably there are other ways to connect the A500 if you're technically savvy, but I'm not.Jubal wrote:

The CD32 easily connects to a TV though. There are a bunch of "euro styled games" I guess for the Amiga and CD32. Some games are quite good and unknown so never got ports (you can try Banshee if you're into shooters). Other more popular ones like Super Stardust and Project X have at least PC ports (although often not as good as the originals, I believe?).
There was a relatively late game called, I believe, Odyssey, a platformer where you could morph into different animals. I only played a demo of it but it was quite good, maybe you can find it... I'll see if I can look at the game list and come back with comments.
Ivo.
