Longhorn Engineer Mod
Longhorn Engineer Mod
I just got my 2600 back modded for A/V cables and it's great! I definitely recommend this guy to anyone considering the upgrade. Only one complaint is that there is a piece of plastic missing from one of the front corners, so sad, but could have happened in the mail. Still worth it and I should point out that I shipped the thing out less than a month ago. This guy is quick!
Re: Longhorn Engineer Mod
cool! how much did it all run you?
Re: Longhorn Engineer Mod
it was $115, but that's because I had to send it to him to do the upgrade for me because I have no clue how to do it myself. You can just purchase the chip he installs and do it yourself. He sells a kit with everything you need except the tools and a/v cables.
I know 8 bit domain is cheaper, but I was advised by pretty much everyone on this site to go with Longhorn.

awesome- i always want to try to do stuff like this on my own, but can't bring myself to solder up. Nice to know there are options out there. I am the same way. The picture looks fantastic and the sound is great too. Before, the screen was VERY snowy with patterns running through. The sound from the video game was replaced by whatever channel I had the TV set to. Very frustrating. Now everything is clear and clean. The only thing is that some sound effects from the games cause a small bit of interference to pass through the screen. I mean tiny, like in video pinball, one of the bumper sounds causes a couple tiny lines to appear around some all of the bumpers for a split second. Not sure what this is, but I am used to complete interference as well as the expected screen blinking when there are too many characters on the screen - so it's no biggy, just another quirk of an old system.
