Random Gaming Thoughts
Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
I know members in the forum here love different and quirky titles, did Apple get any one's attention with their Apple Arcade offering?
Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
The gaming press is actually written a lot of nice things about it. It’s quite a shift from the standard mobile game model of micro transactions and subscriptions. And it’s an interesting shift for Apple because Apple has been encouraging app developers to move to subscriptions. But all the games in Apple arcade are sort of single payment no in app purchase deals that people can just play through.

If I were someone who both had an apple phone and played games on my phone I think I'd pick it right up. Everything I've seen about it makes it seem like a great deal~

RGT: Square is pretty weird about their re-releases. At least in the US. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE the fact that stuff like Crystal Chronicles and Final Fantasy IX are getting re-released in modern times. But on the flip, how is it possible that Final Fantasy VI - generally regarded as one of the greatest JRPG's of all time - hasn't been re-released since the GBA? It's so weird.

They did a mobile release (with grumblings about the art style; but it played fine). They also re-released it on the SNES mini. Granted, neither of those are mainstream console releases. I feel like the general Final Fantasy fandom is far more vocal about the series from VII onwards.

The fact that the mobile port exists makes it more surprising that it's not on modern consoles. Even the mobile port of III was put on Steam at some point.
I didn't realize VI was on the SNES mini. I guess that is something. And maybe it's a sign that it COULD come to Switch/etc.
You're not wrong, though. The true mainstream popularity of the series began at VII. So that's understandable.

They were too busy giving us the Romancing SaGa 3 port.

I know! This is even weirder to me. Again, not a complaint.

VI has been ported, but never "remade."
It's my favorite game. I honestly don't think I'd like a full-blown "AAA" remake like VII is getting. But something in the vein of the DS FF III/IV or the new Link's Awakening would be stellar.

I finally got to play a game I always wanted to play, lured by the "graphics", Dragon's Lair. I really thought this game had more to it. When it first started, it was so fast, I thought it was a bug or maybe an intro video. This has to be the fastest game I played. It is so fast you do not get to enjoy the animation.
Even worse, my setup was on easy with infinite continue but I can still see how this was very annoying to play. Sure, something that looks that good in the age of Atari 2600 would lure any one, but gameplay wise its just terrible. I will guess this game was the mother of QTE.
