Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
The latest AVGN episode is supremely terrible. It's pretty clear that Jimmy no longer has interest in the series, isn't writing the scripts, or playing the games. I do like to watch some of his old Halloween episodes every October. The Castlevania & Dracula themed episodes are my favorite.
Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
God forbid they read an instruction manuel so they fuck around for half the show wondering why they cant do something. I agree though, mike seems to be the only one that recognizes these games nowadays.

I get the battery backed thing and saving money, but this game would be bad ass if it had save files. Imagine a file select screen which showed the progress for each save file, like how many eggs you found and which ID cards you held. I know the game can be beaten in 2-3 hours, but that's only if you know exactly where everything is. I think this game would be on people's "must play" lists if it had a save feature.
A password system would have been better than nothing, but it would definitely be one of those 20-digit alphanumeric strings that everyone hates, and we'd be here bitching about that instead.
It would be awesome if a hacker implemented a save system. For a good example, someone did this for Mega Man X3.

That OST is amazing! The first person indoor parts of the game were very impressive back in the day. They're still pretty neat today, but the frame rate is like single digits. It's like you're moving in slow motion.
Long passwords suck (DOOM 64), but I think Capcom had a decent system with its 16 tile grid in Mega Man X. That said, always prefer battery save.

You don't know what a long password is until you've done a Golden Sun save file transfer without a link cable.

I did that and I can assure everyone that it's as painful as it sounds.

Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
It's taken a while (I am a bit dim) but I've come to the conclusion that some genres just aren't for me. I was playing Dead Cells which everyone says is a top-tier indie game and I while I could definitely understand what the praise was for, I realised I kind of hate rouge-likes. Same thing happened with SRPGs and First-Person Dungeon Crawlers, just don't like that sort of thing.
Strangely though at this point in my gaming life I found it more of a relief than anything. I can just ignore all that and get on with playing what I like. It also means I spend a lot less on games now than I ever have and have a diminished sense of that weird guilt you get when you have a large collection but just want to play Overwatch or something all night. Win-win-win.

You don't have to like all genres.
Hell, 90% of my posts here are about JRPGs, platformers, Atari games, and visual novels.

And only half of those posts somehow involve Falcom.
