Retro Challenge: Help me find this game...

I'm sorry but that is the description to about 95% of all NES/Famicom games ever made.

There was this game I used to play where you were this guy (looked like Bonk from Bonk's Adventure but older) and it was a platformer. However, it was unlike any other since in stead of moving across from left to right, you had to go from the bottom to top. The entire game is like that.

I don't know that game since I played it off a chinese 110-in-1 carts. It was named Superman, but it wasn't Superman. Also, one of the other 15 Superman games was a Super Mario Bros.

Its not Milon's secret castle and not Metroid for sure...
Kid Icarus first section of the first level looks a lot similar to what I had in mind, but I recall the game being a lot more colorful and the spirit of the main character is more defined and larger
