What happens to VC games...

Post by Lazer »

...when a wii dies? On the 360 the games are on the hard drive, which can be attached to a new 360, and you can recover your gamertag and re-download everything. What is the situation with the wii?

I think the wii keep track of your account and what you downloaded just like the 360 and the ps3. I could be wrong though

You can delete and redownload VC games, so I assume you could transfer your account to another Wii and restore everything. Not 100 percent sure, though.
Comics, RPG's, miniatures, and now retrogaming? I guess its time to learn to go without eating...

Unless something has changed recently, you can not do that. Say your Wii dies, and you decide to buy a new one instead of sending it in for repairs, you lose all of your games. Nintendo hasnt mentioned anything the VC and a Wii successor.

That having been said, as I recall if you send in your Wii for repairs and they determine that they are just going to give you a new Wii I believe they will transfer your VC account. But please correct me if I'm wrong.

It is my understanding, that yes, if you send it in to Nintendo they will transfer all of your games and vc info. Other than that though, there is no way (legally) to get your games on another console without repurchasing them

Leasing games suck. Owning game discs is better.

I agree. I do not look forward to the upcoming digital distribution era.
