Would something like Saints Row 2 count for product placement? As I recall, there were billboards in the game that were used to advertise real world movies when I played back in 2010. I don't know if that was something built into the game or if those billboards ever changed, but I remember talk at the time of using these kinds of objects in game as rotating ad space that could be bought by advertisers for a certain length of time.
