Resident Evil 1: Saturn or PS1?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

The graphics weren't improved because of the time when they were released. Capcom could and did get away with being lazy.

The saturn version now has me intrigued. I'm just surprised its so much more expensive that psone games tend to be. I honestly was expecting it to be $20 or less but it seems to be going for $40+ complete. I'm even considering just buying a disc only version for it just to play it. (gave moded ps1 to gf, she's more of a sonyphile than I am)

I played it briefly on the ps1 and i found myself jumping out of my seat several times. (I'm funny like that)

Well, to be fair, Capcom did add more costumes, bonus art, and new game modes. Heck, you could track your Mercenaries score online versus the rest of the world for Resident Evil 3. The only version of Resident Evil 2 that saw a graphical improvement was the Nintendo 64 version, where some of the jagged edges got smoothed out a little. Though in terms of overall material, the DC version got all the stuff from the PC version, so...yeah.

dreamcast version did get a resolution improvement, but they recycled models and backgrounds. Doesn't make the games bad, just makes them lazy ports. Still a great set of games. And no i'm not selling my copies you'd have to pry them from my cold dead hands...

Capcom did an impressive job porting RE1 to the DS and RE2 to the N64 considering cart limitations. As for the DC versions of RE2 and RE3 they did the best they could without writing a new engine for both games. afaik all backgrounds were just bitmaps with the characters moving between predefined 3D coordinates.

It's cool, I already got mine, along with my DC copies of Code Veronica and Dino Crisis.

Comparing the PS1 director's cut to the original Saturn version seems a little unfair. :?

I agree, they could have Remade them! Like in the RE:CV engine!
@Mozgus
I own the remake, and RE:0
I really just mean the original games

@Mod_Man_Extreme
It does seem unfair...

I say that whatever you do just don't get the GameCube REmake. Crimson Heads are the biggest pain in the ass since... actually their the biggest pain in the ass ever.

You kidding? Let them get point blank and frag them with the shotgun. Works every time.

That, or you could just not kill the zombies. That works too.
