Great job, Ack! I checked out your WordPress site. Looks good! Maybe consider a shorter URL if you can find one. Otherwise, I like what you’re doing. Your writing is on point!

There’s a WordPress plugin called Yoast. This plugin helps you craft your articles in such a way as to attract more site traffic. If having more visitors on your site is important to you, then give Yoast a try.

Also, don’t be shy about putting your WordPress site in your signature; I’m not. Google ranks a site based on how many pages link to your website - especially if the incoming links are on higher ranked websites.

Thanks. I just stepped out of one interview. I’m going into another interview this afternoon. Man, I really need this to work out.

Thanks, Samson. I really appreciate the encouragement and insight you've provided. I've gone ahead and added the URL to my sig here, and I've got it listed on my Twitter account, though with only 4 followers, I doubt I'll get much traction at the moment!

I will have to check out Yoast. Yes, part of this whole thing is to provide a place for my reviews and store them, but a big part is also to share the films and hopefully generate interest in them.

And I hope you keep reading, Samson! I'd love to have my writing point you to a film you end up tracking down and enjoying.

Woo, took a break over the weekend, and now I'm back to updating and scheduling reviews. I'm now scheduled all through the month of December, and I still have a couple hundred pages to go through of forum threads on here, so I think I'll keep going with the twice daily release rate for January.

As of right now, reviews will continue to go out at 9am and 4pm, and some of what is scheduled are reviews of films from 3 years ago, so even if you guys remember all my recent posts here, you may see some that you don't remember or didn't get to read the first time!

A few weeks into my job and I find out that apparently the people that trained me didn't "train [me] right" and now I gotta unlearn and relearn damn near everything.

Also, of my four co-workers, one transferred to the deli and another apparently left for West Virginia. One of the others apparently doesn't do the night shift as often or something. And then there's the manager, who now shows up at 3am. But one of the guys who's been doing stocking for years came back recently.

Apparently I need to go faster, as if suddenly my way is wrong despite it being right when I first started and when I helped to prep for inventory.

A part of me just figures all this new BS is because they figure it's too late for me to find a new job and that they can take advantage of my dependency on my employment there. Seems like whenever I'm in a situation where there's no real exit plan, things go south quickly.

But I'm still sticking with it since until Duck Donuts opens in March it's the only way to pay the rent (of which I'm 4 weeks behind, though the landlord understands how things are and knows I'm good for it) and pay my electric (I've only been using my heat intermittently and using an electric blanket when I sleep).

Next year, one of my resolutions is to move to NYC. I figure that since Food Lion's paying more than Oceanas Bistro does it should be easier, especially since I usually get off at Food Lion at 6am and my shifts last summer at Duck Donuts started at 6:30am and I can literally walk to the latter from the former in mere minutes. And from March to September is 6 months and I can probably make it work with $3,000, so that's $500 a month set aside (though I plan to set aside more).

Smile... Took about a month off from the forums & mostly the internet outside of work needs & movies/TV. I also found some time to go on vacation & even went fishing. Lots of good family time in there... and food... too much

It was pretty refreshing to reflect, but happy to be back discussing old games, movies, & nerdy stuff with you all.

What I'm up to now...
About to finish Dune. Will post in "books!" thread once I do.

I'm also watching the Snatch TV series (free on Sony Crackle) which is surprisingly fun. Will post in the "watching" thread once In finish season 2.

I think I'm breaking out Halo ODST & Reach soon. Beat Halo CE (twice!), 2, & 3 in 2018. Going to continue revisiting the series in 2019.

More good times ahead. Happy New Year gents. :D

Welcome back, Jag! Good to hear you’re doing so well. I take breaks like that from time to time, and they can be incredibly refreshing.

Yes they can be refreshing! My Decembers in my work life are crazy so by getting other metaphorical "noise" out, taking a vacation, & focusing on time management I was able to make it all much less stressful... although I wasn't exactly sitting in a hammock.

Looking back, I splurged in 2018 & had 2 vacations, 1 four day trip to the Caymans (long story that ended up happy thanks to travel insurance) , & 1 mini vacation weekend away. Also got to watch 3 big college football games in person. Smiles all around there.

I'm usually a once a year guy. I'm typically frugal so it was fun letting loose a bit. Back to Scrouge savings this year

It is very hard to know if any of that is true or just a scorned, sure employee angling for ammunition.
