Hello all - long time reader and buyer here - first time poster,
Perhaps someone here might have done this themselves before.
I've recently obtained a UK (PAL) Sega Saturn. It is modified to
allowing switching between 50 and 60 hertz as well between regions (US,
Europe, Japan) to allow region free gameplay.
I live in the US and thus I have an NTSC television. I already have
obtained a step-up converter so it can run using the power here. I've
also replaced the SCART cable with a standard Saturn A/V cable.
When I turn on the console the output is in black and white. This makes
sense as I figured the BIOS is outputing the video in PAL.
I do not have any games yet. My question is this. If I was to run an
American or Japanese (NTSC) game would the output still be in black and
white? If so, what would I need to convert the signal into NTSC for my
television? Is there anyway to modify the console itself to output NTSC
video?
thanks,
Agamemnon
