I'm disappointed by a lot of modern gaming trends, but whatever is going on with anime waifu games is pretty much the least of my worries on that front. Most of my worries lean towards the style of games coming out, and how many of the developers I like, while currently doing well, likely will follow suit as that is where the money is.

I'm honestly hoping Switch can catch into both the 3DS and Nintendo home-console niches strongly and build up from there. I'm happy with my PS4, and it looks like Sony and Microsoft are where Capcom, From, SE, and a lot of other big Japanese developers are focused, which kind of sucks since I don't feel like I'll be getting their systems in the future. Western output is fine, but there aren't too many of them I really want to see stuff from, besides id, Rockstar (only really care about Bully and Red Dead), CD Projeckt, Arkane, and a handful of others. But being under Bethsoft, I'm fearful Arkane is being turned into a multiplayer developer based on job listings.

Me being positive is for another thread, but Switch is my Primary Console for a reason. It has everything I want to play on it. Not just Tiddie games either, interesting Indies, my favorite multiplayer game ever.... and a very annoying eShop.

Switch is going to be RPG heaven too and Deamon X Machina is going to rock.

So yeah I'm Nintendo leaning right now. But I'm loving the PS+ games lately, and I can't wait to play the now dirt cheap games on Xbox one X which is an upper mid range PC.

But yeah, Waifus aren't my only problems. Forced Micro transactions, Games as a Service, Season passes almost being mandatory for way too many games. I'm just getting started.

But I'm not biased I will soon have all 3 consoles.

It's M on PS4 as well.

WHOA! What is going on here? That is some real smut. How is that on consoles? How is that even on Steam? How is it not AO, at least? Nothing against pornographic games, but if this is the kind of thing they're censoring, I think I'd have to side with Sony here. Probably better to keep this kind of content in more niche spaces, like the bowels of PC gaming.

From what I saw, they cut the sex scenes out, which is how eroge VNs have always been brought to consoles far as I know. Stuff like Kanon or later Fate/Stay Night did that too, it's nothing new or particular to Sony. PC may end up getting the mass market version as well, or have the option to disable H-scenes.

Obviously, that's going to depend a lot on how integral that content is. Something like the Fate IP obviously benefited from mass market exposure, and didn't need the erotic elements to work.

It’s an image thing. It’s always been an image thing.

How does a parent explain to an 11-year-old child when they go on the PSN store that there are these types of games right on the front page?

No platform holder wants to be known as the console that has these types of games. Uncensored mind you. I’m not knocking these type of games but you have to understand from a business standpoint. The Walmarts and the Targets of the world doesn’t want that kind of stuff on their shelves either, hence the limited availability of physical releases. God forbid a young kid walks through that aisle and all of a sudden he’s a situation like when we walked through “that” section of a video store when we were kids.

Are we still using “(insert console here) fanboy” as a thing? Dude, it’s 2018. Not 2004. Everyone knows PC is at the top and everything else, collectively, is trash.

Kanon was an H-game!? I kind of wish more Dreamcast games had CERO ratings--. Now that you mention it, though, I had often felt like I'd heard of Pia Carrot in the context of H-games, but I know there are ports on the Saturn and Dreamcast. The Saturn ports are labeled for adults, but I'd bet there were still a lot of edits made. At any rate, I've kind of grown to expect that for Japan, but it's a little hard for me to imagine them being available in the US, even censored. I guess I really have no idea how central the titillating aspects of these H-game VNs are to the game itself, but I can only imagine that some standards and practices person would just be constantly red in the face about these games, even without the explicitly pornographic parts.

That's interesting about Fate. I've actually heard of the anime, but didn't know about the more illicit origins.

I once again remind you these types of games are readily available on Switch.

I think he's referring more to AO rated titles, which major retailers won't stock, and in turn platform holders don't allow (unless things have changed since Manhunt 2). What you'll get on Switch, just like you will on PS4 or Xbox One, are things cut down to at least an M rating.

Correct, the switch versions have all sex scenes removed.

So if the Switch has every game you desire, what’s the issue? It is because the PS4 doesn’t have your desired games? Then don’t play the PS4. Problem solved.

Why is Nintendo allowing those types of game? Who knows. It’s like asking why you won the lottery. Take your winnings and move on. Just don’t blow it all on drugs.

Every captain runs their ship differently. Depending on market forces, waves so to speak, each captain will steer their ship to adjust and stay on course.

Man I’m super confused as to what the true issues are.

Also, as an astute and delusional Xbox fan such as myself, I will say this: the Xbox branding has done more for gaming over the last decade than any other platform to date. That sweet online shop people enjoy on non-Microsoft consoles and having an overall great online experience is because of the Xbox brand and Microsoft as a whole. Say what you will about it’s “identity” or a lack there of, but they've done a hell of job since the controversial reveal all the way back in 2013. It helps that they’ve got a great leader at the helm because the dude before was a complete tool. They own the software development and UI/infrastructure side of the business hands down.

I don’t have any of the newer consoles (#PCMasterRace - duh) but I acknowledge when a company turns their shit around. How does the saying go again? You are not defined by the mistakes you make but rather by how you fix those mistakes.
