Re: Switch Discussion Thread
So my copy of SNK Heroines arrived, and I played maybe an hour of it. So far I don't feel as positive about it as Flake does. I don't know - the simplified controls don't really jive with me. Especially how there's no low attacks to mix up, and pressing back doesn't block. For an SNK fighting game, this feels weird. And I also don't really love that you need to land a certain finishing blow to actually win a round. I got up to the last boss in the arcade mode and multiple times I got his life down to a sliver but couldn't land the finishing blow in time. Lame. I don't know. The game has a certain cheapness to it. Like, I feel like I'm playing a mobile phone game that cost $50 for some reason. Weird controls, tiny roster, not the best looking graphics, etc. I'll give it a little time to see if I warm up to it.
Re: Switch Discussion Thread
I knew SNK Heroines wasn't going to be for me for the reason you listed. Slightly off-topic but the new Samurai Shodown looks promising. I am digging the SNK revival we are experiencing.

I would totally be up for that. Here's hoping. There's definitely enough fans out there who would eat that up.ElkinFencer10 wrote:I'm really hoping for a new Metal Slug.bmoc wrote:I knew SNK Heroines wasn't going to be for me for the reason you listed. Unrelated: Is anyone going to be picking up either Pokemon Let's Go Pikachu or Eevee? I'm a tad skeptical about the pokeball controller, but the game itself looks great.
Re: Switch Discussion Thread
I've got Let's Go Eevee preordered. Its more for my kids since we play Pokemon Go together but it looks like it will be fun. I won't be getting the Pokeball controller unless I find it on clearance somewhere.Blu wrote: Unrelated: Is anyone going to be picking up either Pokemon Let's Go Pikachu or Eevee? Re: Switch Discussion Thread
My brother just won a switch in a business raffle and he is 100% on board with pokemon let's go pickachu/evee. He has never played a pokemon game but his whole family plays pokemon go and it is a great way to introduce him and his son into the series proper.
Me... I'm not on board only because it has a ton of features that I dont personally use and I am a firm believer that if the bulk of features in any product are features I won't use, then it isn't for me.

Re: Switch Discussion Thread
I had a feeling that Heroines game would stink since it just seemed like a lot of T&A window dressing and not in a way that actually still has a good game like DOA used to do so I'm happy I killed the preorder. Now if that SS1 remake looking game is just that and it comes I'm on board.

That looks odd, like it's a digital version of a classic D&D pen and paper game and the AI there is the DM. Is that about it? That doesn't look like the usual junk S/TRPG game with the weird grid battles and cheapo passive junk as I see dice in a circle there.

Re: Switch Discussion Thread
kind of, but not really. It's actually a sort of port of a choose-your-own-adventure book. There was a series of them in the 80's that were played like single player D&D type experiences. I have played this game a few years ago on PC, but these kind of digital tabletop games seem like PERFECT games to play on the Switch in handheld or tablet mode.Tanooki wrote:That looks odd, like it's a digital version of a classic D&D pen and paper game and the AI there is the DM. Also: Ahead of tomorrow's Nintendo Direct, it's been announced (leaked?) that the Online Service will be starting on 9/18th with a 7-day free trial for all users. I'm looking forward to seeing what NES games are included in the subscription.
