Frantic- a free trip to bullet hell

This is a free flash game, but despite its graphical shortcomings, this is an impressively good SHMUP. The bullet patterns are nice and the power up system works really well. I think you'll be impressed with the gameplay, even though the graphics are bare bones.

Ok, this time I finished it. 320 million points. Not even close to the day's top 50, but not too bad. I was just happy to finish it. Personally I think it's a lot easier using the mouse than the keyboard, though I did accidentally get hit a few times when I clicked the wrong mouse button....

I got top 29 today on my first time, but that is probably because the day is still young. The top guy has double of my score.

This game is excellent though, and it was still nice that I was able to finish it in my first time. I didn't know I was decent at bullet hell shooters (although I think this one is more forgiving than many of the type).

BTW, I played with Mouse (I bet with keys you don't have much of a chance to get top scores in this game) and with the "average" ship.

If you want to really go for high-score, you should certainly choose the firepower ship, and quickly invest in firepower upgrades over anything that prolongs your health. If you are going to get hit often you won't ever get a decent score anyway, so it only makes sense to assume that you are not going to get hit often, and use the extra firepower to make not getting hit easier (you dispose of enemies faster).
