I do realize I don't HAVE to pick and choose. But I'm the type of person that likes to focus on whatever I'm into at the time. I see collection photos online where there are rooms that are just floor to ceiling games/consoles and it would drive me nuts. I just don't like hoarding stuff. There was a time when I had like six or seven consoles hooked up at once... I just don't like that kind of clutter anymore. So in games and any other hobby I might have, I tend to have stuff that I'm into RIGHT NOW. I mean Switch is a good example: I didn't feel I needed one at the time, so I sold it. I knew if/when I wanted one again, I could easily get another one. So that's what happened. I recognize the kind of games I'm happy playing RIGHT NOW, and have a console and a portable console that give me easy access to those games. I'm happy.

I'm with noise there about needing more focus and just too much junk. It is that situation of not wanting stuff to sit and reach the ceiling. It's like is it really needed or does it make you focus more on a burden than enjoyment. It's why in the last few years I'd ditched 3 sega systems, 2 sony, both reviled things named Wii, and a few other odds and ends. Despite it being a new thing here I'd even consider backing off my new-ishly had PC Engine. Less is definitely more, focus helps a lot. I don't like to hold onto something I know I don't use anymore currently and then think for a long time about it too if it would not come back to it either and if that's also a yes, it's toast.

I still get things. This monday after 20 years of wishing, I got a wicked deal on a silver Game Boy Light which I'm using, and a very battered but clean screen 101 GBA SP for general use I may or may not make a project out of. Why? I use Game Boy stuff still consistently. Focusing on like the Switch, GB family, 3DS in spurts, and the PC, PS1 and PC Engine in little bursts is almost as it is too much but works better than not. I randomly still bother with the old stuff as I have my old systems and a selection of keepers there too but if I focused on that being other than a small shelf of memories it would eat at me too.

And tonight I intend to shortly here crack open finally Ys 8. I can't believe how well numerically it has been rating which is nuts. I refused to read any review details on it.

Darius: Cozmic Collection coming 2/2019 in Japan...

from Nintendo Life:
It's expected to launch in Japan on February 28th 2019 and will cost 5,200 Yen. The collection includes four of the arcade entries, but a limited edition - costing 16,800 Yen - will add five console entries, and will also include an 'Arrange' music CD, 'official materials' book and miniature acrylic marquee. Sadly, the amazing G-Darius is nowhere to be seen, but we should probably be grateful we're getting this at all.

Here is the list of included titles across both versions:

Darius (Arcade)
Darius II (Arcade)
Sagaia (Arcade)
Darius Gaiden (Arcade)
Darius Twin (Super Famicom) [Special edition-only]
Darius Force (Super Famicom) [Special edition-only]
Sagaia (Sega Master System) [Special edition-only]
Darius II (Mega Drive) [Special edition-only]
Darius Alpha (PC Engine) [Special edition-only]

Wow, I see no reason to get the special edition. The two SFC/SNES Darius entries were real duds. Who cares about the SMS version of Sagaia? The MD had an OK port of Darius 2, but the PC Engine's Super Darius II was better. And Darius Alpha... why? Just for shit and giggles? The arcade titles are all much better. Also, I thought Sagaia and Darius II were the exact same game. Does that mean they have two identical, or nearly identical, arcade games on the collection?

Darius II and Darius Gaiden are both awesome games, so I hope this collection is brought to the US and given a more friendly price.

yeah I was thinking (mostly) the same thing. I'll admit that I'm drawn to the SMS version just because... it's an SMS game on a modern compilation and I want to see more of that. But it's not worth the huge price difference. The real bummer to me is the CD soundtrack, but again - I'm not willing to pay the markup when the real meat and potatoes is the arcade games that are already on the standard edition.

Pocket Rumble is out today on the eShop. I doubt it'll get a physical release. I'll hold off for now. Blade Strangers is out next month, and I've got the Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection as well so don't really need more fighting games right now.

Sagaia is easier than Darius II and has its stages in a different order, but is otherwise the same game.

Not including G-Darius in a collection chalk full of passable games is really silly. Like, I'm glad its a thing and that maybe some people will play the Darius series, but I don't get good vibes from this collection, feels scummy compared to the god-tier treatment M2 is giving their shmup ports right now.

Noise got a Switch, again!? The absolute mad lad!

Noise, I think you should also pick up Wonder Boy III: The Dragon's Trap. One of my favorites I've played this year, on top of Mario and Zelda.
