Just beat Xenogears.

Early this morning at around 12, I finally beat Xenogears! I picked it up for a nice 25 bucks and it took me quite some time to beat. Overall, its was a pretty good game with a fairly complex story. My only gripe about it was that it had way to many random encounters and it seemed that a good portion of events had to be rushed on the second disk. Maybe because of the amount of time it would of took to further develop it? Who knows...

Overall, decent game and glad to be finally done with it.

Yes, the second disc did indeed suffer. There are various tales as to why, but at the end of the day the issue is that they cut it down to the basic story for several areas of the second disc.

I've had the first disc on my psp for months now. Still haven't gotten around to it. Think maybe i'll crack it tonight.

I'm not sure what I would have thought had the game not been as praised as it is by the time I played it, but as it were, I find the game almost absurdly overrated. The combo system, while entertaining at first, becomes extremely monotonous by the end of the game. The mech system is boring from the beginning and only interesting on a small handful of bosses. And the story - the primary reason the game receives so much praise - is sloppy, pretentious, over drawn, and otherwise proof that too many gamers need to read more.

I figured as much...now isn't XenoSaga suppose to be a prequel to those unofficially?

I enjoyed it, especially the religious aspects of it. I enjoyed it, but like I said disliked certain parts. You'll either love it like I did, or hate it like Crux, heeh.

Story is completely asinine, the graphics are unbalanced, the 2nd disc will make you completely regret investing any time into the whole game, but the soundtrack is one of the greatest of all time.
