Oh, yeah, Star Wars: Episode III was way better than it had any right to be. I think the DS version is basically identical to the GBA one.

Wait, the DS version has some 3D dogfighting scenes. Probably still worth a look; that's the version I own, but I played through the GBA one on my flash cart at the time.

I just discovered that too. I’ll probably pick up the DD version if I can find a complete copy.

Also, the DS doesn’t seem to have many beat ‘em ups. Other than Star Wars and Tokyo Beatdown, what else is out there?

There's a fair amount.

Viewtiful Joe: Double Trouble! is probably the best.

Fair warning: While Tokyo Beat Down has a fun sense of humor, the gameplay is pretty lackluster at best. Definitely one of those "try before you buy" games.

Oof, this month hasn't been kind to me so far, free time-wise. That said, I managed to get a bit into Viewtiful Joe. As expected, I'm getting whomped pretty hard.

I might have to swallow my pride and switch down the Kids difficulty. My main problem seems to be that I'm not as good as I used to be at memorizing patterns. (I also suck at shmups for pretty much the same reason.) As a result, I'm running out of VFX pretty quickly. From the look of things, dropping to Kids gives you more VFX gauge, so this will probably solve a good chunk of my problems.

That said, I'm determined to see this one to the end! I'm a pretty big Clover/Shinji Mikami fan, so I won't let it get the better of me!

I've embraced without shame easier dificulties a long time now, i'd rather have a finished game than another stain on my shelf. 8)

Edit:
And Double Dragon Neon is down and with it i think i'm done with this TR :) , first time participating and i loved it, i think i won't be down to July's TR but i'm sure there will be other ones that will pick my interest.

There should be no shame in how you choose to approach a hobby that brings you Joy. We have all the other parts of our lives to be demanding and stress us out. Play how you wanna play, playa.

As someone who beat VJ on Adults, yeah, I know where you're coming from. It really is all about memorizing those boss patterns, and then simply nailing the timing consistently. As with beating any "hard" game that requires memorizing patterns, it's really more "how much free time do you have for memorizing patterns" versus "how skilled are you at overcoming emergent challenges". (Anecdotally; that's what made Urban Reign so hard, there were no patterns to memorize, the difficulty was always emergent.)

Please do! VJ is good stuff.

I agree with this overall. Personally not having a video game put up a legit fight isn't very fun to me, I like for my wins to feel like I earned them. However, I understand not everyone feels that way. We all get different things out of our gaming. So if someone's not enjoying a game, because it's just too challenging for them, doing what they need to do to make it enjoyable is understandable. For some of us high difficulty is fun. For others it's just a source of anxiety. Nobody needs unnecessary anxiety in their life. There's no shame in avoiding that.

I didn't get to play any Final Fight: "Streetwise" tonight. Real life stuff got in the way. I have to travel for my job tomorrow and won't get home till late, so I doubt I'll play it tomorrow either. Hopefully Friday evening I can finish FF:"SW", and then it's God Hand ahoy. I'm looking forward to seeing if God Hand lives up to its difficult reputation.

This sounds like a defense of credit feeding to me.
